Samsung m610 now available from Sprint
We first spotted Samsung's slim m610 clamshell way back in August, but it looks like the phone's now finally available for purchase from Sprint, apparently still able to claim the title of "thinnest clamshell wireless phone in the United States." Apart from a new black paint job, the phone's specs remain the same as before, with a 2.0 megapixel camera, QVGA internal display, OLED external display, Bluetooth, and a microSD slot for expansion (a 64MB card is included); it'll also let you take advantage of Sprint TV and other Sprint PCS Power Vision multimedia services. Measurements come in at 3.98 x 2.05 x 0.47-inches with the phone weighing in at a mere 3.28 ounces. Getting it no strings attached will run you $329.99, but if you're willing to go through the usual contract signings and instant rebates, Sprint will let you have one for just $180.

also, first comment, both here and on the giz's M610 article. samsung glint, I salute you! this fuels my sprint/samsung/thin clamshell fanboyism in a way nothing else could. I love my A900, but t-flash is a great improvement.

Let it be known; we slaves of Verizon Wireless would also like to partake in being blessed with this modern marvel.

I don't know about you, but I like my phones with a bit of "fat". I can't even hold demo models of thin phones (razr, trance, etc).

kevan, just a heads up: if verizon ever gets this, the features will be crippled and it will have the trash software verizon puts on all their other phones.
as a sprint phone, no features are crippled, data services cost less per month, and the software will use the shiny software that samsung put on the A900, and the highly customizable qualcomm uiOne. better to find a way out of a VZ contract than wait for VZ to get a good phone that isn't crippled, and SPH means sprint exclusive (samcung PCS handset, versus the verizon models which are samsung CDMA handest, or SCH)

battery lifetime
Dave Pevsner @ Nov 23rd 2006 7:37PM
3.5 hours.
but that's probably with the backlight, GPS, data, bluetooth and speakerphone turned off, and constant calling with nothing else.

Don't get too excited. This phone may be thin, but it's crappy (or at least, it's heavily based on a crappy phone: the Ultra Edition 9.9 (http://mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=2864&source=BROWSER)
Note the internal speaker, which makes ringtones very muffled, and the horrible keypad...
musanti @ Nov 23rd 2006 9:43PM
maybe if that review was for the same phone- gsm and cdma phones of the same "family or type" are not the same thing features change and just a quick look at the m610 and the d830 dont have any simularities other than they are ulta thin and the oled on the outside i think you should wait more than 7 hours after a phone is released to call it crappy i dont think there is a review of this actual model yet
naimath @ Nov 24th 2006 3:06AM
