3rd party Wii component cables
Those HDTV owners lucky enough to have a Wii may well know the sting of the Wii component cable shortage; with the ~$2 part (cost, not retail) fetching upwards of $100 on eBay, we think Blaze may have just saved the day with its $6.71 3rd party Wii component cables. Unfortunately even those are on backorder until this Thurdsay, the 30th, and even then you have to buy it from the same totally unimpeachable operation that brought you the Wii glove. So either way it looks like your ass is going to be rocking the 480i until further notice.

meh, while cheap is good, 480i on my HDTV still looks fine, no need to help others profit off the Nintendo cables. I'll just wait until the next available order period without checking every day.

I totally agree. Too many opportunist out there trying to make a quick buck. I think patience will pay off in the long run and will be easier on the 'ole wallet.

So you would rather wait and pay 4 times more for the same cable?
And you're saying These guys are profiting?!
Nintendo's Component Cable: $29.95
Identical 3rd party component cable: $6.71
Yah, those 3rd party manufacturers are real mean profiteers!
(The sad part is, they still are turning a huge profit; someone needs to make an easy cable assembly kit to end this overpriced cable madness).

You know, there are third party cables in about every best buy I've been to, but they're made by Griffin, and cost $60. Yes, SIXTY. But, I'm just pointing out that the "3rd party" option has been available since the days BEFORE launch.

i have no wii so i shouldnt have an opinion... i hope you enjoyed my comment ;)

I had the component cables, but once I saw how much people were paying for them, the capitalist in me won out and I threw 'em on eBay... $150 later, I know I made the right choice. I'm actually looking for S-video Wii cables... why is Nintendo not making any?

So far on my 42" Sony Grand Wega, the Wii picture quality is acceptable. Although on a larger HDTV, this may not be the case. Besides, most of the games' graphics are not high-def.
As a side-note, if you even have a Wii, just be thankful you have one. We had to drive for 2 hours yesterday from Philly to the Toys-R-Us in Timesquare in NYC just to get one. No other place in the Tri-State area had one. Even the Nintendo World Store was sold out.

Seeing as I don't get my Wii till about two weeks from now I don't care too much about it. I'm already paying more for everything anyway (the UK is expensive). We pay 180 for one Wii, that's roughly 350 US Dollars. So we pay about 100 bucks more, for no reason really, the console is the same, except for region code (which as I understand the Wii has). So yes, I will be buying third party products, especially accessories and I just pray to God that we will have those over here (I expect we'll pay about 1.5 of your price...). Even games are about 20-25 bucks more expensive. We pay 40, that's almost a one-to-one conversion. And don't bullshit me about EU-regulations bringing up the price, that's corporate bullshit in these types of devices.

Sorry when i sent it to you... it wasn't back ordered...

Has anyone seen the shipping charges for these things? The cheapest option - airmail - is $17 for a package that weighs less than an ounce. It seems pretty clear that they're subsidizing the product cost with the S&H charges; when you factor them into the equation, they're not all that much less than the Nintendo cables.

Less than an ounce?
From the webpage itself:
Shipping Weight: 0.87kg
If you're conversion impaired, that is 30.6883469 ounces, almost 2 pounds. Check the actual postage cost for shipping such a package to most locations across the globe.

Hahhahahaahaha that's exactly what i thought.... LESS THAN AN OUNCE.... don't ask me why i know an ounce is 28 grams... (420 lovin it) give or take a decimal point. But the minute i read this post i was like.... " surely it's more than an Ounce!!!"
My opinion... for the price... send them an ounce!!!!

I stand corrected on the weight... read that way too fast and jumped to the wrong conclusion. Regardless, however, for most international purchasers the point remains the same: the total landed cost of the component cables isn't much cheaper for the generics than it is for anything else.

bought a wii in Hong Kong for Santa Claus but it will not work on my TV in Ireland. Is there a conversion chip or cable to enable viewing ? Need a quick solution. Thanks.
