GameStop employees allegedly fake PS3 theft
We're not ones to judge individuals who get carried away during the launch of a new console, be they politicians, hopeful campers, or even newbie eBayers. However, we draw the line at the law being broken in order to bag what is essentially a plastic box stuffed full of more plastic. In the latest of a rash of PS3-related crimes, two 19-year old GameStop employees have been accused of stealing four PlayStation 3s and then telling police that armed gunmen had robbed the store and taken the consoles instead. The charges include suspected embezzlement, burglary, and conspiracy, all of which carry hefty jail sentences if the suspects are proven guilty. Still, we all know what the ultimate sentence-based deterrent to this sort of crime is: a lifetime of living under the label of being the bad kind of PS3 fanboy.[Via Joystiq]

Kids are so stupid. When will they learn to come up with a good story, think of all the angles, memorize it, and finally - STICK TO THE STORY. Grow up already.

Mike, it frightens me that your idea of growing up consists of "come up with a good story, think of all the angles, memorize it, and finally - STICK TO THE STORY." How about work hard, be honest, get your own. That sounds a little more like growing up to me.

It doesn't matter whether it's a PS3 or a digital camera. I hope these boys get what they deserve. A crime is a crime, and the fact that PS3 is the hot new thing this season just magnifies this specific crime. Other crimes are being committed, but this just made it through media because it's PS3 related. Not really major news.

If we add all the numbers calculated by all complaining fanboys about what Engadget writes(2/3 PS3, half Zune, 80% Apple,...), Engadget readers would hate about 352% of its content, and to please everyone, the only subject allowed would be the giveaways, and it would be restricted to a no-brand gadget shipping worldwide.

There's a GOOD kind of Sony Fanboi?
Jeff @ Nov 26th 2006 2:18PM
See, you should've gotten your high school diploma first before working at GameStop....
Jamesology @ Nov 26th 2006 3:15PM
Eric, you need to finally figure out that everyone is a fanboy of some sort. So what if he is a fanboy; there are more Nintendo fanboys popping out and making an insult towards Sony than Sony fanboys insulting Nintendo.

Inside Job, Off Topic:
My friend worked at a supermarket and they close at 10pm. He told me overnight someone cut a large hole in the roof and slipped down to the bookeeping room in the top level, cracked the safe and stole $22,000.00 Cash. You would think they would of installed Video cameras and a trip alarm in the bookeeping room? Nope! Was the Supermarket Mafia owned? Yep!
