Nike Amp+ wireless iPod remote spotted
If that Nike + iPod concoction hasn't whipped you into shape yet with all of its sporty goodness, you might want to run and hide (well, maybe not run) from this upcoming Nike Amp+ wrist-mounted remote, which could very well prove irresistible. The fancy little thing, which has yet to be officially announced by either Apple or Nike, but somehow sneaked its way into the 2007 Men's Health Tech Guide, features music controls and LED-illuminated info readout to track your run. It supposedly syncs up with the mother-Pod via Bluetooth -- though we'd be surprised if they're changing out the current dongle that powers the Nike + iPod setup, so perhaps this is interoperable with that non-standard frequency. No word on exactly when we should be seeing this thing in stores, but it should be hitting for around $80 when it does.[Via TUAW; thanks Evan]

Hmm Nike's PR people should standby for a right 'steving' heading their way!

What they need to come out with is a hand-clicker remote to do volume/track skip/power song. It's never easy to try to hit tiny buttons on the other wrist with one hand while pounding the pavement or the treadmill. I do loves my Nike+ setup though...

But compatible with an iPod somehow?

You mean like the Monster iEZClick:

or the Griffin Air Click

or iFM (search on their site--I can only put 3 URLS in the message) or Apple's iPod Radio Remote?

You know what i just realized? Nike and Philips got together a couple years back to make Nike mp3 players. Since me and 7 other people were the only ones who got them I guess Nike decided to jump on the iPod bandwagon. But, as you are going to write back to me, Who cares? If I was Nike, i would have dropped Philips too. Oh ya, that is a pretty device that will go great on my brand new iPod nano. Hey Philips, come on, with 128 MB, who honestly can fit all there music on it. Yes, I too, have gave in (after i bought 4 mp3's from the "other guys")

We are upon that age when watched communicate with our cellphones and mp3 players via bluetooth but yet cant tell the time. I don't see a way of (conveniently) showing the time on that watch. I would buy it if I could wear it and use it like a normal watch, but I don't think thats what sony intended it to be used for.

Sony? What?

I just bought one. And I'm wearing all the time. It is very light, has a seamless look, you only see the LEDs if you press a button (not like the Fossil). But it seems to get scratched easily(tolerable).
Works great with the nike+. I press the left button for the spoken feedback, the middle to pause the work out and etc. One problem is that under the bright daylight you cannot see the LED time display and would be nice if in the future they fix this or make a spoken time function. And also I cannot put the nano to sleep holding the pause button. But I think that is nothing bad compare to the overall features. Good for running, good if you don't want to take the nano out of your pocket every time you need to pause and is good at home as a remote control.

I just got my AMP+ and it linked up right away and worked great for my first workout. When i went for my next workout it wouldnt work. In my iPod Nano it says that there is a remote linked but it wont function when i press the buttons. The LED lights showing that the remote itself is working (time, etc. work) but it wont change the volume or songs on the iPod. So i tried to unlink and then link again, but this time it wouldnt link at all. I get the message "iPod has not found a remote".
I have tried all the typical troubleshooting - make sure the remote and iPod are close enough etc. did i just get a bum unit or is there some way to 'reset' the AMP+ watch. I really liked it when i first used it but its very frustrating that it conked out on the second try.
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same problem. Then I removed the battery from the Amp and waited 30 seconds and put it back in. That fixed the problem.

I had this product since it came out and love it. People are amazed of it. I just want to know if it was possible to have a heart rate monitor built into this, then it would be totally complete. I have to wear 2 watches in order for me to control and keep track of my heart rate. Will Nike come out with this feature?
