Prestigio is at it again, this time bringing a somewhat prestigious portable hard drive wrapped in supple, sure-to-be-costly
leather. This tidbit of luxury sports a 0.69- x 3.20- x 5.16-inch enclosure, which is covered in a "stylish classic black or brown leather coating," and houses your choice of 40, 60, 80, 100 or 120GB 2.5-inch hard drive. Additionally, it boasts a "one touch" backup system, allowing you to clone your data onto the portable drive with just the press of a button, and while it supports a software-based password system, the lack of a
biometric scanner keeps it from true greatness. The classy Data Safe II comes packaged in a "fashionable box," derives all the power it needs from just a USB 2.0 port, and should be available real soon. Although there's no price set just yet, you can sign up for the "pre-sale" on the company's website should you so desire.

Excellent touch on the leather. You're right guys, the biometric would've put it over the top. But I still like the style nonetheless. It takes courage to pull of something that some techies may not even bother to look at.

The page completely omits important details about the hard drive such as speed and buffer size.
These are prolly old 4200rpm laptop drives jammed in a crummy leather case so that people think they are fancy and good and will buy them.

Hmmm.... reminds of a flask

The size is not really that enticing either. My 80GB iPod is 14mm thick compared to this drives 17.5mm, and this HD doesn't have an LCD taking up extra space.

Why do they have to wrap it in dried carcass skin? Seriously this is 2006 we don't need to use leather cases (like this will get thrashed around and needs a "protective" case made of leather. I don't want anything that has to be lubed up/treated so it can keep it's "alive" appearance and not continue to decay like it's supposed to. Zombie case anyone?
Leather is old and out like writing checks, VHS tapes, and eating meat, so update your style.
Let me know when Prestigio wants to join the future.

Don't know where to start but, HAHAHA! I turned a vegetarian back to the dark side (literally, it was turkey) just yesterday!
And some of us do like leather. Makes good watches, even better belts and jackets that I can't afford.
BTW: the first part wasn't a joke. I really coaxed her into eating meat.

Apparently, the DATA SAFE II is "compatible with Mac OS 9.08." Heavens, my beige G3 will be ecstatic! Welcome to the 90s!
