What, exactly, would a Motorola Q look like
all dressed up in Sprint livery? If you guessed "like any other Q but with Sprint logos strategically placed about its exterior," you'd only be partially correct. From these press shots, it looks like Sprint will be launching out of the gate with the new (arguably hotter-looking) black variant, a color that we've already heard CDMA rival
Verizon would be picking up itself in the near future. Otherwise, we get a revised Sprint-specific theme slapped onto the handset's Windows Mobile UI, the aforementioned Sprint logos front and rear, and that's about it. We still don't have an exact drop date, but current rumors have customers being able to get their QWERTY on some time between mid-December and early January. Click on for more eye candy!
Coming here from a place that has no Verizon, horrible GSM...hurry please, I want my skinny WM5.
WHY can't they just release it already. Not like it's changing that much...I want a date sprint!
When are they reveiling Rogers' version of the Q? It was announced at a conference I went to already.
I want now!!! NOW DAMN IT!!! it looks so sexy :)
what i would like to know is how much Sprint is planning to rape their customers for this slick phone. especially now that Verizon is offering the 'same' phone for only $99... :-/
I just talked to a Sprint Rep and he said It is coming out in Jan for sure.
@Cory
Sorry, but I'd rather pay a bit more for the phone up front than pay out the nose for data plans in the long run (if you use that stuff, which I do quite often). Sprint's unlimited data is actually quite cheap out of the box ($15).
Big time questions for this phone:
Does this include Rev A ev-do?
Does it have any improvements over first Q - better BATTERY LIFE?
Will it be same price as Tmobile Dash for 1 and 2 year contract?
Will it be out before Christmas?
In response to ryboy:
no
no
no
and...no, carry on.
In response to It matters not:
you've made me sad today with your prophecies. :-(
I'm sorry, but look at it this way. I work there, and I'll be getting one.
Hmmmm'
I have to wonder if Sprint is going to release it, and then 3 months later YANK it off the website and out of the stores with NO explanation as to why, just like they did 3 days ago with the Samsung IP830W. Crack anyone?
Bye Bye Treo 700 Hello Moto Q. Does anybody know if the Q will support sprint TV and EV-DO
I talked with six, yes six, different people at Sprint today in customer service, tech support, business support, etc. and not one of them had any idea about the Moto Q or it's possible availability. Not surprising, though, since they appear to be the posterchild for corporate chaos, disorganization, and inefficiency. I had one customer service person tell me, "We get calls like this all the time. People are asking for smartphone like crazy and telling us they're leaving for Verizon or wherever. We keep telling our supervisors, but..." I wonder how investors feel about that? Oh, and don't forget the still unsorted business left over from the merger with Nextel. Anyone else getting annoyed always being asked, "is that on the Sprint side or the Nextel side?" from their employees? What a mess!
You MUST get the extended battery for the Q, unless you dont mind fully recharging every 6 to 8 hours.
WITH the extended battery you get a little over a day out of it, with about 2 hours of that talking on bluetooth.
They really shouldnt sell this without the extended battery. The standard battery is that bad.

Any word on retail price yet? I will nto have any rebates avaliable so I am curious how much I will have to hand over ot get the Q?
-Matt
The phone will retail for $449.99
and any exact launch date yet?
according to everthingQ, a "local sprint source" says the launch date is jan 14. sounds reasonable.
on the other hand, retailing it for $450 makes no sense, if that means street is $250 on a two-year bid.
since you can get it for $99 from verizon, i expect sprint will try to come close to that -- otherwise, why bother?
One must keep in mind that VZW's unlimited web package is "just a little" more than Sprint's. I'm sure it will be cheaper than $250.00 with a 2yr agreement, but not by much.
that's a good point, IMN --
i just tried to figure this out using sprint's web site -- as far as i could find, sprint's unlimited data package is $40 a month and verizon's is $45.
i had trouble finding anything on data packages that wasn't buried under Features after I added phones to my cart, so my apologies if i'm way off here.
thanks for the help & info,
FF
check that --
i think they were hitting me up for blackberry plans at $40/mo but that unltd web can be had with a basic vision pack for $15/mo.
that's def less than verizon.
:)

You bet your sweet ass it is bud. The only thing you will have to pay more for is, phone as modem capability. Even with that, you still come out $5.01 cheaper than VZW.
Just talked to a sprint and moto represenative and the word is: Verizon has a 6 month honor contract. After this time period the Q will be released via sprint. Does anyone know the day it was released for Verizon - this may help solve our confusion...
Verizon released the Q in May or early June, which means its going to be available soon at Sprint (6 months ended Nov. 22). I'm surprised they couldn't get it ready for a holiday introduction...but that's typical of Sprint (asleep at the wheel).
Soon Apple will release its smart hone at Mac World, and smoke the Q and the Treo. Only Blackberry will survive
Verizon introduced the Q on May 22, so Sprint is able to release its Q. Not suprising, Christmas came and went and no Q release.
Next month, Apple will announce its smartphone and kill Treo and Q. Only Blackberry will survive.
First off this is my first post here so....hello. Now, I don't think the Palm's Treo line will fall off. It seems recently they've been "getting" the fashion and general consumer base thing. The FIRST thing they did RIGHT with the new line is knocking that damn antena stub off! It's a good sign. Hell, all they have to do is add decent wifi and Bluetooth 2.0 (and sticking with a SD format would be nice) and they'll be straight. But, we'll see in the coming months...
I agree with Gallantmon TM.
The TREO line is not going anywhere. I purchased the 680 for my sis and its a great phone. Its much more lighter and more eye appealing then the 700p.
I was thinking of switching from sprint to cingular to get one AND THE 680 SUPPORTS BLACKBERRY CONNECT, however I am happy to pay my $15/mo for data and no more.
I will never buy a smartphone from Apple. It will probably have a click wheel. I have an ipod and a macbookpro with windows xp and am looking into an imac. I have no more room in my life for any more apple products. Sorry Steve.
Q looks real nice. I am awaiting a release for Alltel. I use a V3C, and a PPC6700. My PPC6700 has too much, Its too large, and WIFI is not even important with EVDO, and Office Sync. Personally I can't wait for the Q. I often use my ppc for printing important email, that might be the only thing i will miss.
Sprints unlimited data pack is 15.00 I know this because I work at a sprint store the blackberry data is 40.00 but that includes phone as a modem and unlimited web
Any updates on the release date yet? The iPhone just came out and the Treo 750 is out too
I spoke with a friend who works at Sprint and he confirmed a Jan 14th release date....just in case you still had doubts.
oh yea baby the motorola q is out today everyone and i ordered mine today woooooo hoooooo and check this out baby http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/q/ that is hot check out all the features on there just skip the add at the first page then explore baby u will be like dora the explorer lmao enjoy all u future q buyers i cant wait to get mine cause the ppc 6700 i had sucked ass
The Moto Q is the biggest waste of money. It sucks. I have had plenty of experience and every customer that has one hates the damn thing.
anybody who has one on sprint care to leave a review?
I just picked up the Q on ebay for $79.00 brand new in box...It was 479.00 with a $300 instant rebate, then I had a $100 mail in rebate to make in a $79.00 phone holla atcha nephew...
