LG joins the 22-incher party with L226WT LCD
Word of this L226WT LG display has been making the rounds in China for a little while now, but the new LCD makes a nice little addition to our collection of "Vista ready" 22-inchers, even if it isn't necessarily destined for the States. Beyond that loud and proud Vista sticker, for optimal consumer confusion -- "what, you mean I need to update my monitor too?" -- the display features a 1680 x 1050 resolution, 300 nits of brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a 5ms response time. The 170° viewing angle isn't the best we've seen, but we'll live. No word on price, but January ain't too far away.

What other monitors out there have 3000:1 cr?
"What other monitors out there have 3000:1 cr?"
Samsung LN-S2341W 23-IN
SAMSUNG LN-S2641D 26-IN
Just to name 2 of many
What exactly does "Vista-ready" mean?
every engadget post about a new monitor fails to mention the single most important spec: the type of panel. Is this TN, IPS, PVA, MVA?? who cares about a 3000:1 CR or 5ms of a bleeding 6bit panel??? None of the specs mentioned mean much without knowing the panel...
Er... LG is South Korean, not Chinese. And the sticker on the monitor is in korean as well.
What makes a monitor "vista ready" and "not vista ready?"
One works and one doesnt?
The one with the hole in the front is "not vista ready".
Vista allows to control monitor settings thru software. The days of ugly OSD (on-screen display) are numbered. Now you can change brightness, contrast, resolution, etc, etc thru software over DDC/CI channel. Display has to support that DDC/CI specification to be rated Vista-ready.
Check out our company's DisplayTune application at http://www.portrait.com/ for details if you are interested.
Many major display manufacturers put our software in the box with their latest "Vista ready" monitors.
ughh i hate it when they put stickers like that. "vista ready" "works with ipod" its all for freakin retards
There's a TV in that picture?
Seen this for sale in Taiwan for around US$ 300....
No, there is no TV in the picture, just an LCD computer monitor. A TV has to have a tuner card to be called a Television. Unless you count HDTVs that don't have the built in HDTV tuners, so they are just like monitors. I wonder if putting random chicks laying on the ground next to a product actually does any good in promoting a product?
so do we know when its coming out in the market?it looks very interesting.
L226WT does not have driver - cd is invalid data and LGE website does not know about the new LCD monitor.
