Dutch art company releases "dinner conversation" DVD for solo diners
On the occasions that we have to cook and eat a meal solo, we usually accompany it with a side of the internet, a DVD, or possibly, if we're feeling really old-school, a book. But apparently, those current offerings aren't good enough for some folks. That's why a Dutch art company, Tilburgs CowBoys and Theater NWE Vorst, has put together a film that you can watch while having dinner this holiday season, so it won't feel like you're eating alone. According to The Uber-Review, there are six different options to choose from, ranging from "romantic evening" or "a good discussion." We're not really sure how lifelike a one-way dinner discussion can be, which is why we'd just as soon cuddle up with an old James Bond flick over a dinner-for-one, but perhaps those haven't reached The Netherlands yet.

Happy ending?
HEY! Ok, I admit this is stupid, but no dissing of my country please! :)
It would seem like you're having an imaginary conversation, just that there's a dvd - it's like practice for talking to yourself...
On the plus side, when you tell the other party to shut up and then turn it off, unlike your real family they would have to oblige...
Bachelors:
Right about the time you zone out from what the person in the video saying in the middle of your evening meal you'll know what us married guys are going through.
The cool thing is that you could in theory just fast-forward to the point with this little number!
(I keed, I keed.)
I have to agree. I'd rather put in a movie or show I've recorded to watch whilst eating.
How is this any worse than a DVD showing two hours of a fireplace?
This is considerably more pathetic than a dvd of a fireplace.
We provided some bond chicks and the beer brand that James favors, happens to come from our country. So no badmouthing our little drugs and prostitution infested lump of earth!
That’s not funny. I have been in a committed relationship for 5 years and can’t imagine eating alone & feeling lonely enough to pop in a DVD to keep me company. That sounds so depressing. Trust me when i tell you; i do eat alone occasionally but i don’t think it has ever come to that. I feel sorry for those who feel that way.
Please if you get that desperate go to a local bar and talk to someone. (Jokingly)
Just don’t to kill yourself (Jokingly).
Seriously don’t.
If you are a "Pretty Young Fine" woman give me a call. (410) 800-......wait im in a committed relationship.
I kinda wanna get this.. just for the novelty factor. Who knows, maybe it'll actually get me to cook myself a real dinner instead of a freakin healthy choice frozen sodium-infused meal.
This is, hands down, the single lamest thing I have ever seen.
Ever.
They could release this video for women (Christopher Walken on SNL as 'The Continental') - not creepy at all...

This is stupid
This is the lame precursor of a potentially great idea... being able to have dinner with people in remote locations whenever you feel like having company, assuming all participants have an Internet connection, a camera, and a display. You could go to a Web site and see who is about to have dinner, filter the list based on their interests to enable a good conversation, and so forth. I am sure there are many people, especially older ones, who feel lonely and would pay for such a service. And the fact that, obviously, each participant would be eating something different would provide a good first topic of discussion to break the ice. I mean, even myself, who do not feel lonely, would love to have breakfast someday with someone having dinner in Tokyo and someone else having lunch in India (just an example, I did not check the actual time zones). What a great way to make the world more connected, around some good (or maybe horrible) food.
Jim Gaffigan already did this on his "Beyond The Pale" DVD. And he ate a hot pocket.
jean-michel, your idea is GENIUS! now i know what to hope for in the coming years!
A local channel has the burning log 24/7 for the "12 days of christmas", and a roasting turkey for Canadian Thanksgiving.
I didn't think it was that interesting, but probably more-so than this DVD =/
Japanese Otaku already have.
