Variations on a theme: the Motorola KRZR Fire
Motorola has rebuilt its once-diminished empire on the back of the RAZR and its endless variants, milking the platform for absolutely everything it's worth (and beyond, depending on who you ask). Why not continue the trend, then, with the RAZR's heir apparent? The KRZR "Fire" is pretty much like any other KRZR, but with a decidedly crimson appearance to its glossy outer shell. For the time being, the Fire appears to be a Korea-only special, but we'd be surprised -- nay, shocked -- if we didn't get our own full spectrum of KRZRs in these parts of the globe over the next couple years.

The KRZR is one of the most striking handset designs on the planet. And for once a solidly built Motorola! They should be able to milk this for about three years.

...will Bono claim this variant as his own when it comes to our shores?

Is the name prophetic? What kind of batteries does it have?

Just reading the headline in RSS I thought maybe a KRZR had exploded and started a fire, being a variation of the "gadgets blowing up" theme made popular by the Sony batteries.

Looks great. No new features, but at least a new color. They will sell tons of these units. The KRZR is a great design with a good feature set.

I hate to be a stickler for detail BUT...
Unless I'm very much mistaken the inclusion of music playback buttons on the outside of this handset is a new feature. Looks like the MotoRazrMaxxx has had a love child!

No, this is the Korean KRZR K1m, aka MS700. While being CDMA it retains the touch sensitive buttons of the American K1m and adds a QVGA screen along with the 2mp camera from the GSM K1.

Personally I really like it. I like the KRZR in general, a friend of mine has one and it looks very sleek. I would have picked one up the other day, but Cingular doesn't have it yet. I went with the Blackjack instead.
Though in 1 year your grandmother will have the krzr.

Whoever came up with the idea that a new color scheme is like a new new feature set is both an evil genius and a sick depraved bastard.
"New features? We don't need no stinkin' New Features... We'll just slap a new color on it and profit!"
