Will it blend? If it's an iPod, you betcha
Considering the recent console launches, we've seen plenty of bizarre episodes of folks demolishing their precious goods just to get a few laughs, a bit of hate mail, and their 15 minutes of fame. But ole Tom Dickson over at WillItBlend.com added a touch of kitchen know-how to his rendition by squaring up various items with the oh-so-sharp blades of a Blendtec blender. Needless to say, the iPod didn't stand much of a chance, as it was thoroughly devoured in a matter of seconds, turning a once useful DAP into nothing more than shrapnel and dust. While we're fairly certain this isn't what Apple had in mind when it patented a blended display / interface, maybe all those metallic chunks wouldn't be too bad mixed in with your choice of fruity goodness -- click on for the delectable vid.

Yep.
It blends allright.
Kiteless @ Dec 14th 2006 11:20AM
Holy moly! That blender is awesome! Poor old iPod.
CT @ Dec 14th 2006 11:22AM
It slices! it dices! It makes julienne fries!
Earl @ Dec 14th 2006 11:23AM
Kinda weird, even for a viral spot.
Corey Spring @ Dec 14th 2006 11:26AM
Too bad the blenders are several hundred dollars
apeguero @ Dec 14th 2006 2:24PM
At least they don't charge you $50.00 to $100.00 extra for the black :)
The guy is funny man! I've seen these "Will it Blend" spots before on other things. He has this childish smirk on his face that just cracks me up. Looks like a mad scientist or something. He should be a Web 2.0 icon.
JeremytheCamel @ Dec 14th 2006 11:38AM
Yeah they are expensive but they aren't really for home either. These things are pro grade, we use one at the coffee shop where I work and it's awesome. Can't try this there though =).
Manuel @ Dec 14th 2006 11:41AM
WTF ???
PJK @ Dec 14th 2006 11:45AM
Greatest Blender Ever. Don't care about the price, i'm getting one of those.
Jimmy @ Dec 14th 2006 12:10PM
even the wimpy home version ($400) of the blendtec sports a 2hp motor. the commercial one like you see at starbucks gets up to a 4hp motor if i remember correctly.
Tavis Veighey @ Dec 14th 2006 11:49AM
Yeay!!! The new ones are out! Finally!
I am glad I was not the only one who asked for this! Let's see.... What to ask to have blended next....
Damage @ Dec 14th 2006 11:58AM
Be equal opportunity blender: Blend a Zune! The Brown one even.
The poop jokes ought to start flying for that one.
jmchez @ Dec 14th 2006 12:02PM
Those weirdos have blended cell phones and now an iPod. If they did it with the batteries attached, they are getting a witches's brew of real nasty and deadly chemicals. As they say, "Don't Try This At Home!"
I also think that every time they blend something like that, they use a new set of blades. I just can't believe that those things can last very long.
JRA219psu @ Dec 14th 2006 12:09PM
Just one question: can I blend my bug ridden Playstation 3?
Dill @ Dec 14th 2006 12:09PM
Don't feel too bad for the iPod... notice the nice pressure-crack in the screen?
Soap @ Dec 15th 2006 8:07AM
Don't you love those phony horsepower quotes by manufactures?
My Craftsman ShopVac claims to be 5.5 horsepower.
Google says:
1 horsepower = 745.699872 watts
hmm, 5.5 horsepower = 4,101 watts = 34 amps.
I don't think so.
Rick @ Dec 14th 2006 12:13PM
I wonder if he took a nice deep inhale as all the tiny toxic particles made their way into his bloodstream...?
Eli Hodapp @ Dec 14th 2006 12:22PM
I really wonder how many people have bought these blenders because of the series of videos. If I didn't already have a great working blender, I'd totally pick one up.
Rob @ Dec 14th 2006 12:22PM
I wanted a nice explosion or something when it blended into the Li-ion battery. So depressing.
pudders @ Dec 14th 2006 12:47PM
Gives a whole new meaning to the term "iPod mix".
e2 @ Dec 14th 2006 12:49PM
With how many blenders I've burned up trying to make a thick milkshake, I am sure I could have bought one of these blenders. 4 blenders x50 = the cost of one of these, I think I am going to get one. Where can you get one?
Naris @ Dec 14th 2006 1:02PM
At least the scratches on the back of the ipod are no longer as prevalent.
Qwikstreet @ Dec 14th 2006 1:29PM
The videos with the marbles is good too.
Q Manning @ Dec 14th 2006 2:20PM
My blender won't even blend ice :( These things rock!
JON BLAST @ Dec 14th 2006 2:43PM
Does anyone else miss Beakman's World? God that show was funny.
LESTER THE RAT!
tiuk @ Dec 14th 2006 3:07PM
Wow, now that's impressive. The iPod's back is stainless steel, and that was a 4g iPod (meaning it's thicker).
hooniebear @ Dec 14th 2006 3:12PM
speaking of rats and blenders, anyone see this blending goodness yet?

Jason Heminger @ Dec 14th 2006 4:23PM
This reminds me of "Will it Float" on letterman!
embee @ Dec 14th 2006 4:27PM
I love the music. Seriously, this is one of the best viral marketing schemes EVER! Sony, I hope you're watching because WillItBlend.com is how proper viral marketing is done.
As much of a shill as it made me, I emailed the site to my friends after watching about a dozen of the vids. THAT is how viral works.
Plus, like all good infomercials, it made me want a BlendTec blender (have a vintage 1968 Oster beehive, a Cuisinart, and a stick blender - don't ask)
KC @ Dec 14th 2006 6:37PM
Wow. I wonder what happens when you mail that back to Apple for a RMA?
en @ Dec 14th 2006 7:14PM
blend a grenade
Dominic @ Dec 14th 2006 7:27PM
Tell me when he blends a Zune. :)
Chris @ Dec 14th 2006 9:58PM
That was awesome. I love the campy production style.
Ryan @ Dec 17th 2006 1:00PM
Tom Dickson has done it again.
You should see the marble ones. Now thats some crazy stuff. This kinda stuff has been popping up on digg for about a month now.
