Treo 750 demo units in Cingular stores?
Looks like Palm's Windows Mobile powered Treo 750 might indeed hit this month like we heard. The Boy Genius snap above is of a reported demo unit said to be hitting "various Cingular stores" across The Nation over the weekend. Who knows, with the rumor-mill in a frenzy about a possible launch as early as today, things sure look promising for a stub-free, HSDPA holiday after all. Another shot 'round back after the break.

Well..it's not a working model that we got (or that this is a picture of.)though I did see a live one at a seminar and I was pretty impressed. The price tag is a little shiny because of the expanded features that this has, but personally I hope it does better than the other treos.
Brit @ Dec 18th 2006 10:10AM
Anybody know exacty where they have appeared? I just tried a bigger Houston Cingular and they know nothing of it.
Cameron @ Dec 18th 2006 10:46AM
One of the smaller stores in San Antonio TX confirmed a non-working demo unit and the reps said that it would be dropping sometime in January...

From what I've read (all hearsay of course) it will ship with UMTS, and not full speed HSDPA ... though that will be introduced with a firmware update somewhere down the line. I just wish it would come out so I could compare it size wise with the Blackjack.
Aaron @ Dec 18th 2006 1:32PM
Well if you want to compare it to the blackjack just look at the treo 680 that is already in Cingular stores. The 680 and 750 are the same size. But you have to know that the 750 is a bit thicker but with that thickness you are getting a touch screen which in my opinion is well worth the extra milimeters.
b @ Dec 18th 2006 2:31PM
Aaron -
All Treo's have touchscreens, even the 680. This is their signature feature which makes them so much better than the Moto Q's or Blackberrys.
aalqadaffi @ Dec 18th 2006 2:48PM
I work for a Cingular Premier Agent and we got one of these in about a week ago.
Brian Sugarman @ Dec 18th 2006 3:24PM
You can't compare the Treo 750 to the Blackjack or Q. The 750 runs Windows Mobile Pocket PC, where the other two run Smartphone edition. I have a Treo 750v and a Blackjack, and the 750, in my opinion is the more powerful device. Smartphone OS is very limited compared to PPC. I'll be interested to see if the Cingular version of the 750 adds the ability to watch video clips via Cingular Video. I've installed the Cingular firmware on my 750v that was floating around a little while back, but it lacks that feature. Hopefully it wasn't the final version of the firmware.
kerunt @ Dec 18th 2006 9:16PM
What's the big deal? 750v models have been around here (Vancouver) for a while... Expensive as hell ($850 CAD), but they're nothing new...
Robbie @ Dec 19th 2006 10:39AM
sorry i jumped the gun when i posted that i then read further and someone had already pointed that out. sorry to beat a dead horse.
Robbie @ Dec 19th 2006 10:41AM
Ok no this is a pic of the dummy phone that was sent out to Cingular almost 3 weeks ago. I work for Cingular and i know this to be true because both of our dummy phones show 10:19 on the clock. The phone has been pushed back and no new ETA has been released rumors are Fiscal Third quater but apparently Palm has an odd non-conformist Fiscal calender so the range of release dates is apparently, from hear say, end of dec-mar. But no doubt this is a pic of a dummy phone same home page has our two and the 2 at the store down the road and the 5 that came for the agent locations.
Sorry for the badnews.
interstink @ Dec 19th 2006 10:59AM
Robbie, I think everyone is aware these are "dummy" phones. The title is DEMO units. I have seen the working version of this phone - Cingular branded. Seems to work great but im sure cingular is having issues with something. Im glad they are holding off to be sure it at least tests out before releasing it. This is something you dont see many companies doing these days in an effort to get software/hardware to market. MICROSOFT - All versions of windows, XBOX 360, ZUNE... need I say more.
ruben @ Dec 19th 2006 12:29PM
why would plam be holding off??????????? even if they had issues they are playing it smart regardless of when they release the treo 750 everyone will still buy it, if youguys forgot they have just recently released a treo 680 which everyone is crazy about which i ddont know why i bout one for the wifie but its wack as hell, why would they want to release both fones at the same time when they can juice the profit out of one and then later come out and release the other it makes sense from a buisness standpoint, no they are not waiting to release te treo 750 because of issues with thier service or network, because phones have been released in the past with glitches just so that they can make money, it makes sense for them to relese this fone later because the treo 680 just came out they need to sell this one as much as they possibly can before they can sell the 750 makes sense, remember big companies like this care two shyts what consumers like me and you want , if they cared they wouldve released both at the same time
beagle @ Dec 19th 2006 10:16PM
Looked at the UK web site and there is no mention of wifi. Does anybody know if it will support the wifi card like the 700w?
mj @ Dec 20th 2006 2:09AM
We can stop hold our breath. Forbes reports a definite January 2007 release date.
Check out www.forbes.com and type in Treo 750 for their December 19th story which hit the internet about 2 hours ago. Ohhhh well....
Dae @ Dec 20th 2006 12:08PM
no hopes for wifi i know.
i hope its louder. my 700p volume sucks.
its too bad im a sprint guy.
Vince @ Dec 20th 2006 1:26PM
Guys, I purchased a Blackjack about a month ago, and I love it except that it does not have touch screen. Anyone knows what features the 750w has that the Blackjack does not?
Will @ Dec 27th 2006 11:13PM
I knew if I prayed to Santa enough it would happen.

Just wanted you all to see what i found messing around the other day, if you goto cingular business site....
h@@p://business.cingular.com/businesscenter/phones-devices/all-phones/
then you can look at the 680 its the second from the top of the list. I right click on the photo and found the link to the jpg....
h@@p://business.cingular.com/cingular/images/equip/cingular_devices/palm_treo680_m.jpg
THEN CHANGED THE 2 NUMBER TO READ 750
h@@p://business.cingular.com/cingular/images/equip/cingular_devices/palm_treo750_m.jpg
AND HERE IS PROOF THEY ARE IN THE HOME STRETCH OF RELEASE. They do not add the phones unless they are available. So they can accidentally sell it to soon, or upgrade people when there aren't any in stock. I'm going up there tomorrow to cingular to talk to one of my ex employees who now works at their retail store. I am going to cash in some favors and see what she can do for me. More info as I get it...

I am inclined to buy the blackjack too http://www.1800mobiles.com/samsung-blackjack-cingular-cell-phone-review.html. Is there any significant difference or marked functionality that the 750 offers visavis the blackjack?
