Q4 Technologies, a software company previously known for its gridmagic art package, is working on software to control
Wowwee devices. Go-Robo, currently in beta, allows users to write commands for their Robosapien or similar device using either a graphical "building block" interface -- for novices -- or by employing GRIDscript, which is a proprietary programming language for advanced users. As it stands, the software allows you to control up six robots simultaneously via a user-supplied IR transmitter; hardly enough for you to wage that robotic uprising you've been planning, but it's a start. The full version is expected to be available by spring time next year.

those who are saying that this post is useless well they are just dumb..these robots are great since you can 'program' what you want them do to...these "toys" are great exercise for the minds of those who like programming...and to those who can't understand programming well, especially "TheCount", "Tresa" and "Robert", i say you guys are just uneducated people...so, just go back to school
Software includes things such as websites, programs or video games, that are coded by programming languages like C or C++.
"Software" is sometimes used in a broader context to mean anything which is not hardware but which is used with hardware, such as film, tapes and records.{{http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2554/3749100798_c69ef69620.jpg}}
Howzabout we try to draw a line in the sand and say "okay Jan. 1 we at engadget will end the 'robotic uprising' retardedness?" When I first starting reading engadget it was mildly humorous - now its just grade school level where the only person that thinks its funny to repeat the same stupid thing is the person saying it.
Am I the only one that thinks all these "robots" from Wowwee are utterly useless? Who's buying these things?
TheCount... they're toys. Toys are generally useless. They're for amusement. I understand if you find them simplistic and boring, but kids love them. And unless your kids are technomonkeys, the 'bots do plenty.
I would be the 'who' that is buying these 'robots'. Fortunately, I have two children to use as cover.
But what fun are robots if we can't fear them? Honestly, lots of tech I read about on here scares me. Nanowhats????
BTW: My dog is scared to death of my robosapien.
I think it is funny and I am not the one saying it.
Another software program for WowWee robot owners is the free open source package Robosapien Dance Machine. It doesn't have the cool Logo like programming language that Go-Robo has, but if you're looking for a simple drag and drop scripting interface with speech recognition capability and an online script sharing database, it's a great choice:

I think it's hilarious. If I wanted dead serious, I wouldn't be here.
Therefore, I, for one, welcome our unexpectedly humorous and now-easily-programmable robot overlords.
