PS3 crime spree, part infinity: Will the madness never end?
News hit the wires recently of an armed PS3 robbery attempt that went down in Kailu-Kona Hawaii. The assailants, who attacked the PS3 owner with a baseball bat, managed to flee the scene in their SUV, but luckily were foiled in their attempt to actually snag the console, merely stealing precious innocence from their victims during the escapade. So, yeah, we're not sure you're quite aware of this, oh well-tanned Hawaiian brethren of ours, but PS3 availability is rather on the uptick these days, presumably relegating bat-wielding drive-by PS3 robberies to the bloody pages of history. So put down that beating stick, head over to your local retailer (or perhaps Best Buy online or those wild and wacky pages of eBay), which is probably filled to bursting with the shiny black console by now, and join the rest of us foolios in the arduous wait for MotorStorm this February. What was that? Oh, you didn't want to pay for one. Well, sorry, can't help you there.[Via Joystiq]

Brick, where'd you get a GRENADE??
I DON'T KNOW
WHY?!? my brother just walked into Target a couple days ago and picked one up... It's not like their hard to find
but stealing a $600 ps3 makes it free... whereas if you bought one, it would cost you $600.
So the guys could have honestly just not wanted to pay.
No problem there.
Today's capital punishment for PS3 theft? Death by execution. Volcano style.
Yeah, the pro gamer community is so deeply in shock at the stock of a particular item, they tend to regress and forget about the actual price.
I know- sounds crazy. But eh.

It's Kailua, not Kailu
Wow that really got out of hand fast.

Hey, I'm from Hawaii, and its Kailua-Kona, not Kailu-Kona
Funny enough, I'm living on the Big Island these days, and was in Kona about a week and a half ago. Lo and behold, they had a couple PS3's available at the local Wal-Mart there. (Maybe 2-3 in stock.)Granted, theres no Best Buy or Target on this island, but theres 2 Gamestops, 2 Wal-Marts, K-Mart, Costco, so theres plenty of options to get a PS3...
oh and you got to fix the spelling of the town... its kailua-kona. and yea walmart has like 2-5 ps3's every week, i know this cause work there LOL
I think it is just people are not willing to spend $600 for a game console and then spend $60-75 for each game. I think they are willing to reduce the financial risks to Wii-like altitudes and steal the console. Yeah, I know I am speculating.
"Keep a tight perimeter."
Man you Hawaii people(yeah I don't know how to spell Hawaiian(sp?))need to not be playing PS3 and need to get your ass outside kissing the ground you live on.
Ever heard of Detroit?...
Yo Engadget. Ever since you updated to this new site it's been craptastic. It's all clunky. Nothing loads right, I can never just scroll without it locking up. Whats the deal. It happens on many different computers, Mostly with IE I will say. But hey IE is about 40% of your market no?
I gotta rant and go off topic sorry, but ever since IE punked out and implemented "Click to activate and use this control" I just about want to bitch slap them. I HATE THAT.
