Walletex mods its flash drive for MP3 playin' duties
We spied that Walletex WalletFlash drive a ways back -- 2005, in fact, the veritable dark ages! -- but now it looks like those Walletex peeps are getting extra fancy, with this new Wallet MP3 Player of theirs. The whole "oh my gosh how did they make an MP3 player that thin" factor is hampered by the extra little USB to mini-jack adapter that's required to get any sound out of this thing, and of course the lack of a screen or tactile buttons isn't stellar. Still, the corporate branding options should raise some interest, and the 128MB to 2GB capacities provides some nice flexibility. No word right now on price or specifics on the June 2007 availability, but perhaps we'll be seeing more of this one next week at CES.

Very cool design!
oh, and my first first post. now i can ignore the idea.
Unless they pack >30G into the card, I just don't see the point of using something that big...
Looks great, but the Ipod, because it has a screen, is still better.
Ipod dimwits! This player should be better off being compared to the ipod shuffle, because of the USB connecter and it also has no screen. Wait a minute, the latest shuffle doesn't have a built-in USB.
I like how compact it is, but I knew it was too good to be true. Oh well, it's a step in the right direction.
We could be lugging around those heavy boom boxes!

An extra serving of what's good!

Look at it this way - we could still be lugging around boom boxes! At least it's a step in the right direction.
@GLD: It's not called progress if it's been done before. :-/ Should I applaud a company for producing a new cassette tape simply because it out-performs 8-tracks?
Comparatively speaking, this isn't as much of an innovative "step in the right direction" as it is a "too-little, too-late attempt to jump on the already rolling bandwagon."
Even for just data transporting, I wouldn't trust the thing in my wallet. Though, I do like the fact that it's "water proof, dust proof, and temperature resistant." If they'd make a money clip out of it I might give it a second thought.
As for now, I'll continue keep my thumb drive on my keychain and my music in my iPod.
