Samsung i760 hands-on
Samsung didn't seem too happy to do it, but we snagged our little selves a hands-on with ther forthcoming i760 this evening. The horizontal QWERTY slider feels pretty solid in the hands, and like HTC's new Libra, it's also got a numeric keypad on the face for ease of dialing. They wouldn't say who was going to carry it (like we didn't already know) or much else about the device, but that's why you read Engadget. Check out the gallery for some more shots of the unbranded unit.

OH YEAH THANK YOU THANK YOU...Now wait for this to come out? Or get the libra? WHERE IT THE LIBRA?
The search is over.
This one is promising.
Horizontal. Thanks, Sammy. Horizontal sucks. This phone looks horrible. I will be sticking with my i730.
Is this EV-DO Rev. A compatible?
Awesome! Can't wait to buy this phone. If I only knew when it was going to be available for purchase.
What about one for lefties?
I swore there was a vertical slider i760 as well... At least I hope so, horizontal sliders blow monkey a**
I agree that vertical slider is much better. I resist buying P990 since Oct 2006, when it was launched here, just because of the hardware keyboard, and the design. I think virtual keyboards are OK.
samsung i750 was almost perfect except for the very small fonts due to small screen, defective IR port(in the one I purchased) , underdeveloped BCR and of course windows mobile 2003 defects in connecting to www and secure sites. Symbian /opera is better both in connnectios and in speed. I was expecting i760 as a vertical sliding version with i750's defects recvered, but now, I am dissapointed with the design and the keyboard. Horizantal slide seems like a joke!
For the one who wants to buy this cool phone. Here is a address where you can make an order:

See, this is a phone that I would like to see Motorola making. I have always been a bit of a Moto fanboy. I have hacked, modded, tweaked and skinned my RAZR V3. However, I still envy all of my friends who have slider/flipper phones like this with full keypads. Sigh. I just need to wait for a while longer.
(P.S. Check out my blog at http://blog.dotshell.net)
I will stick with my blackjack.
too bad about Samsung's historical indifference towards battery life. The specs (touchscreen, Pocket PC) and design (sliders cut down the space for a battery) indicate this might be a toughy.
Let's hope Samsung comes through here because this phone's pretty hot.
This just solidified my choice to switch to Cingular and get the Blackjack. I was waiting for a decent phone that would go to Verizon and this is not it. Hopefully there'll be an iPhone announcement next week but I'm not holding my breath.
This thing looks like a train wreck. the soft keys are so out of whack with the screen alignment when closed. I applaud Sammy's design team for trying new things, but this is one that should have been left on the shelf at some design studio.
I want this phone soo bad! i heard it was going to be released in february but then was pushed back to 2Q :( Anybody have any experience with Verizo's timeline? like when a phone was scheduled last year for 2Q when did it actually come out?
i love this keyboard, the screen, the entire design is awesome. i just wish the key labels weren't slanted like that :-\ oh well, beggars can't be choosers
Zee shmaht-phone far spelunkers.

as far as time line... depends where in the country you are. generally the online then west coast gets the toys first. and it works eastward. but figure adding atlease a few months if not a qtr to the rumored release date
Wow, totally Sweet! It looks like a mix between a Razer and WM phone... this is the first PPC I've been over exited about since the Compaq iPAQ PDA's..!! When is it coming out!!!?
I'm waiting and waiting...when the heck is this coming out!?
