Just bought a set of E4Gs myself, from what I read the 420s are the comparable unit. Supposedly the E series is the "pro" version and the SEs consumer and an article on another site said the new ones don't use the same drivers even if they look similar.
me, I think I would have ordered the E4Gs anyway (at $180 in the US) and I just ordered the PTH unit to go with them. (I listened to the E5 and the E4 and decided there wasn't enough difference for me in sound -- only advantage was the PTF adapter and you can buy that separatly anyway)
