This one's been kicking it on the DL for about six or seven weeks now, but Samsung's officially rolling out the
K3 today. To refresh your memory, the K3's their new superslim (just 0.27 inches) flash-based digital audio player that's sort of like the K5, just without the speaker. Other features: a 1.8-inch OLED display, touchscreen controls, an FM tuner, support for MP3, WMA, and PlaysForSure. Comes in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB varieties, pricing details to come.

Does it support Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP like the Y9?

8GB! The YP-Z5's going out the window then.
Finally, there's a player that's super-thin and has an FM tuner.

finally, stylish and thin 8gb flash w/ fm and NOT an ipod! my next mp3 player has arrived! i can finally replace my zen micro... and i was so close to getting an 8gb ipod nano.

Have a Z5 and a T9. Both good for different reasons but now I want one of these too for the capacity. Samsung are really making some very atractive players at the moment.

That is a beautiful mp3 player. I would buy that for sure just based on looks alone...big plus if it has A2DP

this is the first DAP i've seen that out sexies the nano. why no AAC support though?

I wonder what pricing will be like. I'm hoping it will be at least aligned with iPod nano pricing.

Hmmmm, I hope it turns out better than the Olympus M:Robe. So much potential, so little delivered.
On the bright side, Samsung has shown themselves increasingly capable of delivering engaging user experiences over the past year (see the NV7 and 10 camera's interface) as well as partnering effectively with distribution channels (see Samsung phones, especially the T519 aka "T-mobile Trace" and the "Drift" with Helio).
The only problem with the K5 was the high price, at least to me. I don't want to pay a premium for the privilege of listening to songs on itty-bitty speakers.

For a minute I almost wanted to break my ipod just to pick this thing up.
lol I'm an idiot

only thing that I want to know is how scratch proof is it? It looks kinda vulernable to sratches, hopefully they did something like the Creative Zen V where it's a glossy yet durable finish?
Matt Harlum @ Jan 8th 2007 3:32AM
It looks exactly like an Olympus M:Robe MR-100 but blue and thinner, they even slightly tweaked the headphone logo off the m:robe...
mrsalty @ Jan 8th 2007 10:37AM
That's one sick hot DAP. Love them blue dots like scarlet fever on a smurf.
Roland295 @ Jan 9th 2007 7:03AM
Not sure if I will give up my Z5 yet! I listen to audiobooks (1hr + files) and the Z5 has the FASTEST fast forward of ANY mp3 players. The K5 was WAY too slow & I ditched it!
Am I the only one with this concern?
Also: when are they going to release an MP3 player with time compression? Speeding up the playback but keeping the pitch constant?

Doesn't appear to offer recorder capability which would make it a more complete device.
Add FM trasmitter to the FM receiver and you would have Nirvana.
