Nokia debuts the N800 Internet Tablet to little fanfare
We're sure Nokia will make plenty of fuss over this thing at its press conference today, but for the moment it's like they don't even care that the N800 is out and about in that big scary world. But if you're not too busy trying to keep up with CES news at the moment, or distracted by the million other "must have" gadgets being released this week, you could get your little self over to Nokia.com and snap up this Internet Tablet with four hundies right this second. Of course, we already knew all the specs, like the 4.1-inch 800 x 480 display, 320MHz proc, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and built-in camera, but you mightn't have known that this thing measures 0.5-inches thick, and claims 10 days of standby time, with a paltry 3 hours of browsing. UPnP, Skype interoperability (gTalk ain't the only game in town anymore), Internet Tablet OS 2007, it's all there. Alright, we got that out of the way, now does anyone have spy shots of the next one? We're on a roll here. Peep the gallery below for more pics of the N800.

Come on I see(in photo) GPS on this thing, where are the details?

GPS is provided via an external bluetooth device. I imagine the mapping software is similar to the one on the 770.

Ah- that's right. If they can put GPS in their diminutive N95, I'll hold out for it in a new N800+ model (since I'm already using a Garmin when I travel & don't want to add two things to take the place of 1).

I agree w/ Vic. Get GPS on this (as the photo shows) & I'm interested. I bought the 1st tablet, but took it back because it was infuriatingly slow.

Does anyone know if you can use SMS/text message on this using a bluetooth connection to your phone?

Is there any reason why one couldn't have 'office' capability on this thing while connected to web, using something like the ZoHo suite of web-based apps for creating, saving, collaborating on word, spreadsheet, presentation ?
