We've been tracking the releases of different variants of the SlingPlayer software for
quite a while now, so to see that Sling Media has finally shown off a working version of their SlingPlayer client for Palm OS doesn't quite have the wow factor it might have done
a few months back. Still, it's nice to know that Palm users are finally assured the ability to view their media wherever they bring their Palm. According to
Zatz, Sling is aiming to launch the final version of the software in Q1 2007, with a public beta coming sometime in the next 30 days -- you better watch out there Sling, we'll hold you to that! Meanwhile, Blackberry owners everywhere continue to collectively tap their fingers on the table.

Sounds great, but not 100% sure how you connect....Does it cost you phone time (as in, it racks up your minutes), or do you use your phone's Internet connection service?

Mario,
It uses an internet data connection. So, unlimited internet is the only way to go with this. Kudos to Sling, been waiting on this.

They released a palm version while linux users need to use the hacked up wine version? Last time I checked the number of people with a palm capable of running sling player was considerably lower than that of people using linux...

Now we just need an iPhone version of the sling player... I have waited for the Palm version for quite some time now but with Apple's iPhone out in six months there is a new platform for the Sling box to work on. Please don't make us wait as long for the iPhone version! Keep up the good work... the Palm platform was much needed!
