Optoma anounces 120" RPTV DLP

During CES every manufacture tries to trump the rest of their industry by announcing the one thing that everyone will say was the best thing they saw at the show. Optoma announces a 120" DLP rear projection HDTV, they are currently selling 80", 90" and 100" models, and plan to have the 120" during the second half of 2007. The line features 10,000:1 contrast, 1:1 scan conversion and the usual suspects of inputs. If you can't live without a 120" TV then it is going to set you back about $49,999, if that is too much for you, maybe the 80" is at your price point at $22,999.

How is this better than using a $5000 projector? You have the bulk of the unit, and the colossal price. Lame
Technically this would allow for bright environment showing... though if I've got a 120" screen, it's not a casual living room set, it's a dedicated HT room with no widows and dim (or no) lighting.
Of course, if that's not an option for some reason, I believe a couple companies are coming out with projection screens that filter out the ambient light...
So I guess after all this type of set is for someone who thinks a $50,000 TV will make him seem cooler to his "friends". Complete idiocy if you ask me.

For 50k .. buy a 5k Sony Pearl and build a 45k theatre room.
you know.. they just make TV screens bigger and bigger,
until the resolution will be too low again.. :D
I would much rather get a $10k projector, a $10k desk and a $10k screen, and pay a pro installer to work his magic.
