Toshiba booth tour
We hit up Toshiba's booth yesterday and browsed the wares. With various frills like portable HD DVD drives, SD Home Audio systems, Regza 1080p sets and of course that R400 Vista flagship, there was plenty to love. Nothing really blew us away, delivering on the CES theme this year of "no alarms and no surprises," but it was a solid offering nonetheless. So jump into the gallery and prepare to be not-quite-blown-away and yet mildly-impressed.

Is that the old Gigabeat V on toshiba's booth?
That was a mediocre unit, which I wouldn't be proud of showing around...
Bargain bin material actually, amazon is selling them for $190

I'm in the market for a new tablet PC. Anything good there?

Hey, ask them why they abandoned all the customers who bought the Gigabeat S. We have no accessories, a buggy firmware which sometimes reformats the entire Gigabeat and Toshiba refuses to give us a straight answer. Just a though.

everyone find someway to convince toshiba to push the clear case on the r400 instead of that white/black enamel *shiver* the guy standing guard said the clear case was an early prototype he practically had to sign his life away to get them to let him display.
and Bucket... he also said that i should watch for a built in drive on the r400 in about the next 6 months... so between being a rather nice tablet with UWB docking, and hopefully soon a built in drive.. i'd say there is a nice tablet for u.
