Sony announces new Cyber-shots: DSC-W35, DSC-W55, DSC-S650, and DSC-S700
The buying season may be over, but that hasn't stopped Sony from pushing out four new slightly lower-end Cyber-shots. (Well, lower-end for them, these things ain't too shabby.) The DSC-W35, DSC-W55 upgrade the W30 and W50 with 7.2 megapixel sensors and support up to 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duos; the W55 still has a 2.5-inch display (and comes in blue, pink, black, or silver) and the W35 still has a 2-incher (and comes in silver); both use Li-ion batteries. The DSC-S650 and DSC-S700 both feature 7.2 megapixel sensors, with a 2.4-inch on the S700 and a 2-inch on the S650, both with support for up to 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duos, and use AA cells. All will range between $150-$200 when launched in March.

Nice, nice! Still looking to replace my DSC-W7 that got stepped on (cracked screen), that cost more to fix than buy a whole new one. Just might be getting one of these babies.

*YAWN*
Seriously, is Sony going to offer something revolutionary (*cough* image stabilization *cough*) to these cameras? As far as I can see, these are pathetic incremental upgrades when compared to the previous W30 and W50 series.

They do have a "image stabilization" mode... it just involves cranking the ISO value until it gets to a safe hand-holdable shutter speed.

Sony does have image stabilization, they have software-based I.S. much like Canon's in their entry-level camera. Sony also has sensor-based I.S. in their DSLR that they got then they bought Minolta. Canon's I.S. in their DSLR uses a lense-based I.S.

3x optical zoom? Yawn. I really wonder when the zoom is going to improved upon? I've only seen several cameras over the 3x zoom that are still pocket friendly. I want at least a 6x zoom that is slim and small and then I'll finally upgrade from my S400 Elph.

ISO Boost is NOT image stabilization.
