BlackBerry worldphone coming to Sprint
It looks like the long-rumored GSM / CDMA hybrid variant of the BlackBerry 8700 series might find itself a home on Sprint later this year. We didn't see it in the alleged 1H '07 product pipeline earlier today, but a tipster noticed a document describing Sprint's marketing partnership with the Super Bowl floating all willy-nilly on the official Super Bowl XLI site -- and lo and behold, it reveals that a "global BlackBerry" is waiting in the wings featuring EV-DO, GSM, and a GPS receiver, to boot. Granted, we don't know that this will be an 8700-based product, but we can say with some certainty that there are hybrid 8700s kicking around, so it's a logical move. Don't get us wrong, we're pulling for an 8800 here, but we're trying our best to stay realistic until we see something a little more solid than an ominous silhouette on Super Bowl paraphernalia. WOW...the iPhone is already becoming obsolete before it even comes to market :)
If it could have IDEN ptt then I would be in at ANY cost Iphone or not at $599.00
There is this other global standard, I think it's called, um... GSM?
If Sprint and Verizon used GSM the world would be a better place.
rumor is that it will have q-chat the EVD) rev. a PTT that is cross compatible with IDEN PTT
verizon wireless is getting this as well.
Here, here Bombaclott & resource. They (Sprint & Verizon), need this device because they are getting there azzes handed to them by business customers signing up with Cingy and T-Mobile for GSM global roaming. So please don’t crow Sprint. Almost every $50 RAZR sold by Cingy and T-Mobile can do this. STUPID CDMA ;^)...
Why should Verizon and Sprint be a GSM Shop. The only reason why GSM took off, is because it was illegal for any wireless company to roll out anything other then GSM in Europe.
We are not talking about cars here folks, this isn't a Ford vs. BMW. CDMA is and all American product and a better product then GSM hands down, do your research. Why do you think Cingular rolled out WCDMA here in america, it's because you can't get fast data speeds over the air on TDMA.
Regardless of how it appears, WCDMA is not related to CDMA technology but based off GSM.
Do some research first before you comment.
Actually wcdma is WHOLLY based on cdma. its just newer and faster (the w is for wideband). its a technology created so that gsm platforms can operate like cdma platforms.
