An NES controller-enhanced iPod is one thing, but to really put that tried-and-true old school Nintendo industrial design to some blasphemous new uses you'll have to do what Flickr user "sirljohns" did, gutting an original Game Boy to make quite possibly the most badass iPod case ever. Sadly, the only Tetris you'll be playing on the Game Boy once you're done with it is the iPod's own pale imitation, but at least you'll still be able to make use of the Game Boy's well-worn buttons, as they're wired up to an internal dock connector to allow for full control without requiring you to slice open the iPod itself. The less technically proficient among us may want to click down a bit further in sirljohns Flickr photostream, where you'll find details on modifying a vintage Sony WM-F10 Walkman for a less functional but only slightly less stylin' iPod case.[Via MAKE:Blog]

It looks like the gameboy is just gutted and the ipod is sitting in it. Look at the screen. Looks like he has a black iPod.

it is SO obvious that the person just broke into the gameboy, took out the screen and slipped an ipod in ther. HA. oh wow why would u even post this? lol
Why? Because anything that has to do with reusing your first gen GameBoy is genius.

Well, Yeah. If you looked at the other pictures, that is obvious. Except:
the game boy controls are wired so that you control the ipod with the gameboy buttons
you use the original gameboy jack for the headphones plugin
AND if you don't have the headphones in, the music comes out of the gameboy speaker.
It is fucking incredible.
did anyone else notice the power LED?
Install iPod Linux, then run the gameboy emulator on it.
What a waste of a perfectly good Gameboy. :(

yeah i guess you're right. it is pretty cool considering u can play it through the gameboy speakers and also through headphones and also control it.
so its like a and b for volume and like up for stop, down for play/pause, right and left for cchange tracks.

Is it me or the this OLD Gameboy is the blue print for the iPod design? Let face it this gameboy was one of the greatest handheld design ever, and sure as hell Apple copy this design for the ipod and iphone.

That's pretty neat, but...now you've got to carry around something that's like three times the size of the iPod. I've still got my original Game Boy but unless I wear cargo pants constantly there's no way to get that thing in any of my pockets.
He needs to install rockbox then he can have all the Gameboy games he wants + Doom xD
