"I'm a PC." "And I'm also a PC.": Gates vs. Hodgman on Daily Show tomorrow?
Turns out our old friend Bill Gates is going to be making an appearance on the Daily Show tomorrow evening to promote the launch of Windows Vista, an event which is interesting in and of itself, but which also raises the tantalizing prospect of him finally coming face to face with John Hodgman (AKA "PC" from those "Mac vs. PC" ads). As far as we know Bill's only there for a straightforward sit down with Jon Stewart, but nevertheless we'll be filling the next 35 hours or so with plenty of geek fantasies about what could potentially be some hot PC vs. PC action.

Image of..... hot John Hodgeman on Bill Gates action.... seared in.... brain. MUST..... RIP OUT..... EYES....
Couldn't help it: http://www.engadget.com/media/2007/01/bill-vs-hodgman-joke-image.jpg
ROFL. That was hilarious thanks for the laugh!
TiVO set.
Or the PC and Gates could double-team, and the two go through some Power Rangers-style transformation to create a sort of Gundam style PC-guy to whup on the mac. Just saying.
I for one, welcome our Vista-powered Gundam Computing Robot Overlords.
OH Nooooess Gundam Computing Robot Overlords failing.... its a BSOD!!!
The overlords at Microsoft will never get that it takes thought, contemplation, sensibility, know-how, and action to make great software. Not just brute force. My guess is if they read your comment they would actually think you were serious, which is sad. Take that monkey-boy Ballmer, what the hell is he doing in that position.
Thanks for the info, Engadget! Just set TiVo!
If Gates really says the words "I'm a PC" I want Steve Jobs to suddyenly appear as asurpirse and say "and I'm a Mac!"
Let those 2 duel! :D
If Steve Jobs DID appear, then he would be undoubtedly accompanied by Justin Long. Combine that with the Power Rangers/Gundam prophecy, and we'll have a battle the universe will never forget.
'cept Steve Jobs' Gundam robot will look better. :P
With the fight music from Star Trek playing all the while.
Seriously though, that'd be pretty interesting to have both of them on at once having a discussion.
I'll wait to download it on itunes!
So much potential... that could bring down Colbert vs. George Lucas as the best guest appearance in one of those shows.
I hope they can work George Takei in there somewhere.
I can't wait. HOTT!
Bill could give "PC" the confidence to stick it to "Mac" for good with just a few words. Asta La Vista baby.
Haha that image you posted is hilarious!
I wonder if he'll show up in a hospital gown ready for his major operation :)
Yet more fuel for the "Mac Hearts PC" fan fiction community....
To which I belong.

"I want Steve Jobs to suddyenly appear as asurpirse and say "and I'm a Mac!"
The problem with that is Jobs has as much of a sense of humor as Dick Cheny. I'm sure the interview will be funny because unlike Jobs Gates has a great sense of humor. He'll be into it.
you mean Steve has as much sense of humor as a dick
Thanks for the info Engadget: Home Theatre PC With Windows Vista Ultimate Edition set!
I guess it is faster to say "I'll just Tivo it"
Best comment-section convo ever :P
"I'm sure the interview will be funny because unlike Jobs Gates has a great sense of humor. He'll be into it."
I think Bill is a much more decent human being, what with the billions and billions of dollars he gives to try to solve the world's problems. But a good sense of humor? Do you remember how awkward he was when Conan starting riffing on the technical difficulties they were having at CES a while back? He couldn't have looked more uncomfortable if he was sitting on a chair of broken glass.
John Hodgman is an actor, not an actual PC.
Hogeman in a slightly tatered (not really torn but rumpled) suit, sort of dejected voice: "Hi, I am a pc"
Bill walks on from off scene , "Hi, I am Microsoft, what's wrong PC?"
H: "Mac is not all that great but he still seems to always show me up"
B: "Perhaps this new Vista operating system will help" Holds out hand as if to shake hands
H: Shakes hands with B
A binding flash
Now H: is standing there in a New Designer suit all smiles and new confidence. "Hey Mac!...." walks off leaving B: smiling.
Fade to black, with cheesy music.
Is that some kind of joke?
I went to see John Stewart in Miami last Friday nite. He did a whole bit on Macs. He IS a mac user. It'll be interesting if he interjects that into the conversation.
This is better than macworld!
I'm curious to see the Lebron James "I'm a Vista PC" commercials starting on Tuesday. Maybe they'll put him up against the "I'm a Mac" guy. No contest there. Should be interesting...
I actually found some information on that commercial and the mysterious Apple phone commercial that will be shown on Super Bowl Sunday. Here is the link: http://www.informationweek.com/industries/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=197000991
Heres another "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC, I'm a Vista!" ad!

Bill Gates will arugment easy.
90% marketshare. done and done.
IIRC, Jobs did have a sense of humor when Pirates of Silicon Valley came out. He actually invited Noah Wyle to join him at a Macworld (?) speech, in character.

PC meet your Maker! Is it you DAD?
FIGHT
Hodgman: Yeah, I play the PC in Apple's commercials, but everyone knows in real life I love and use Macs. I mean, Macs rule, what can I say?
Gates: Yeah, that's fine, John, but there's really only one bottom line to all this.
Hodgman: Oh yeah? What's that?
Gates: I have more money than you. I'll ALWAYS have more money than you.
Hey all. I came across this post and thought it was fantastic. Added it to my new blog at the Seattle P-I, Net Native.
