Motorola's MAXX v6 gets quad bands and FCC approval
Well, a hearty good morning to you too, FCC. Our favorite gadgety governmental org just approved a quad-band GSM version of Motorola's Maxx v6. Better yet, it supports UMTS in the US with a new 850MHz radio in addition to supporting 2100MHz for Europe -- there's no mention of 1900MHz which might (but not necessarily) make this a single-band HSDPA phone. Otherwise, it looks to have all the same hotness we've already seen -- QVGA display, 50MB of internal memory with a microSD slot for more, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR including A2DP profile support for untethered stereo audio, and a 2 megapixel camera with a second VGA cam under the clam for video conferencing. Now move over Verizon, your CDMA-based MAXX just got competition.

Is anyone else sick of seeing more and more crappy phones from Motorola? Their design is OK, but the interface and software sucks!!
Actually, I'm more sick of seeing people say that they're sick of seeing the RAZR than the RAZR itself.
Dont bash the v6 if you haven't used it...the design is flawless and the ui on this phone is astonishing, the menu browsing is extreamly fast this phone is by far the greatest phone motorola has created to date.
this phone sucks... i've had it for a couple of days and the only thing worth mentioning is the camera.
mind telling us what specifically sucks?
Wow, FINALLY. Get that thing on Cingular... err ATT NOW!!! *tosses his V3x in the bottom drawer*
hmmm, i just might have to buy this unlocked and get at&t.
Good morning Greg Mauk!!!
I take it you haven't heard of the new and completely redesigned Motorola GUI that the V6 and V3XX will have? If not, search around a bit... word is that it'll be on-par with the best, if not take the crown.
I wouldn't say it's COMPLETELY redesigned, but it does have some changes. They've also finally enabled the NVIDIA GPU that is wasted in the V3x which makes everything draw much faster and helps make the interface as a whole faster.
I have had a 850mhz MAXX for over a month now on the Telstra NextG network in Australia.
@Greg, you're saying the software sucks - I would agree with you on their old phones but did you know that the OS is based on Linux now :) It runs so much nicer. And the nVidia Chip finally being utilised makes it ever so smooth.
@Matt, Telstr maxx phones don't support GSM 850 only WCDMA 850 :)
And to everyone else, This phone ROCKS. It has an advanced mp3 player, (digital audio player sucks butthole.), and the GUI is SUPER FAST! This is definately an improvement to the V3x (wich i jost sold :) )

I cann't wait goodbye Rizr hello Maxx V6!
@Kristi
I said the same exact thing :)
I like this phone. I use it on the Telstra Next-G 850MHz service. Also it took the 2G SIM from my other phone and read all its contacts.
One of my gripes is the way the message templates work. You can't just save a received message as a template and you can't create a template with more than 70 characters in it. Defeats the purpose of a template if you ask me. On my SE K750i I could have a template that was as big as I needed (ie 160 characters). I frequently used this feature to SMS for a taxi usually from the same start and end points and an SMS is cheaper than calling them.
