Windows Vista Ultimate Extras go live
Anyone a little dumbfounded as to why their copy of Vista Ultimate didn't have any Extras, fire 'er up and get ready to update, because with those extra bucks spent on the extremest of all Windows, you, sir or madam, earned yourself an Ultimate-only version of Texas Hold 'Em, "BitLocker and EFS enhancements", and a few security fixes. Hooray. Peep the pics in the gallery, you Windows lover, you.

SWEET!!!
You can buy a $250 OS (or is that just the upgrade) and then...
wait for it...
PLAY FREAKIN' SOLITAIRE!!!
because of course, NONE of these "extras" are available online, or anything like that.
And on another note...
Security updates?
Already?
Fred @ Jan 29th 2007 7:16PM
Don't lie none of the updates were security fixes.
moe @ Jan 29th 2007 7:18PM
hey people i have a hp pavillion zv6000 would i be able to run vista on it?
Dragod @ Jan 29th 2007 7:27PM
If you go to Microsoft.comm there is a vista upgrade advisor you can download. just downalod it, in about a minute it scans the computer and tells you if your computer is Vista compatible, and what version you can upgrade to.

is Microsoft promoting gambling?

Vista: now with yard flamingos.
Brad @ Jan 29th 2007 7:41PM
Fred...that's what I've been doing. I've hit check for update several times since I saw this story. No updates available, no Ultimate Extras available. They aren't locking out OEM versions from the extras are they?
Philster @ Jan 29th 2007 7:39PM
Windows Vista Ultimate Poker!? Ha! That's so Vista-Ultimate-LAME! Wow those screenshots look hot... NOT!
moe @ Jan 29th 2007 7:40PM

Fred @ Jan 29th 2007 7:52PM
The releases might be staggered. Theres more info here: http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=37665

This is the kind of stuff I expected from ultimate extras, really boring stuff. The only extra that looks remotely interesting is Dreamscene, but only if it comes with HD videos instead of low res crap fests.
Brad @ Jan 29th 2007 8:01PM
It's already installed through programs and extras. No updates since the 24th. no extras at all.
Matt @ Jan 29th 2007 8:10PM
I have vista ultimate as well and I tried this morning and could not get updates for the extras... How did you find this out engadget?
Javaflash @ Jan 29th 2007 8:16PM
Since we're on Vista, I have a question. How come the flip3D UI dominates Aero demo? Media puts that "flip-thru-stacked-folders" animation front and center.
I don't believe the UI design is useful in real practice. Not any faster than simple click. Of course, I have never tried Vista. I'm biased. Any comment?
Eric @ Jan 29th 2007 8:22PM
for some reason my vista business from powertogther didn't come with any games? does anyone no the reason for this?
AndrewNeo @ Jan 29th 2007 7:56PM
I think you need to go into Programs and Features and install them.
Anyway, no Ultimate Extras here :( Not saying there's any, anyway.
Eric @ Jan 29th 2007 8:22PM
its not in the programs an features, I want my solitaire lol
greenling @ Jan 29th 2007 8:23PM
What is with the blurred out screen behind the window you are viewing? Gives me a headache in the screenshot, I can only imagine the actual screen!
Brad @ Jan 29th 2007 8:43PM
I have ultimate. Windows update is still saying nothing available.
Fred @ Jan 29th 2007 7:31PM
Brad: Click on "ultimate extras" on the welcome screen and then click "check for updates"
Felipe Jesus @ Jan 29th 2007 8:55PM
Hey, I got the vista extras (and lik six updates) right after reading this Engadget post (it was lik seven pm). As far as i can tell they are all there (even lik 15 language packs). I just clicked on windows update and they were all there.
Brad @ Jan 29th 2007 11:13PM
still no updates. not able to find any answer as to whether the OEM version of Ultimate is locked out.
Kevin Dixon @ Jan 29th 2007 11:56PM
Will vista beta get the update too?
Iced_Eagle @ Jan 30th 2007 12:01AM
Nope, the beta's won't get this content I believe for obvious reasons.
Anyways, I have all of the Extras and the updates installed :)
For those complaining about "updates already?" realize that Microsoft has had from November to now to continue working on some bugs that weren't critical enough to stop RTM, but now they are getting them out on day one... It's small and painless. :)
Yay for Vista!
