Call us fickle, but memories of the
Motorola RAZR maxx Ve are already fading. We have virtually no details on this thing, other than the fact that it's the LG VX8700 and it's headed for Verizon; seems a worthy successor to the
VX8600, does it not? The
Shine-inspired clamshell should launch with a Flash-based UI (rife with Verizon red, no doubt) some time between tomorrow and... oh, say, the year 2100. Follow the break for a picture of the VX8700 all closed up (and no, it doesn't magically shrink when shut).

the slider version looks so much better... what happened to the fading mirror front... lame..

I think I can speak for everyone when I say BOOOOOOOOO!
Sorry LG, while I'm still your love-slave, this just looks like another low-end phone to add to V-dubs spotty lineup. I say spotty because they have some phones that really catch my eye... and some that well, don't. Simply put - I'm not reentering a contract for this phone.

I love the real Shine, but something was lost in translation. What happened to the mirrored front display? I only buy clamshells, and this is what I've been waiting for, but I want my front display to see the pic of the person who's calling me.
Listen up, Verizon. Send it back to R&D for my front screen and I'll renew my contract. Right now, you have NO great phones on the market.

It looks ok, and to be optimistic, if it is a low end phone it looks absolutely amazing compared to the rest of the entry level pack.
The original SHINE is much better looking.
This is like the ok looking little sister of the really hot girl you ended up dating because you couldn't get her sister.
I hope Verizon carries this phones big sister as well as would much rather have a piece of her smooth sliding action :)

While the outside looks pretty awesome, the keypad is hideous. It looked nice on the Shine but not on this one. Bad spin off of KRZR and RAZR phones.

looks ok to me.

I have the lg vx8700 and i am very happy with it. It's nothing like the motorola razor. I am now eyeing the LG Slide which looks really cool.
