While it's not quite a DIY project -- unless you happen to have a Stereolithography machine in your garage -- this one-off clip from mechanical engineering student Chris Williams does offer a glimpse of some potential
Wiimote /
Classic Controller bonding to come, should someone ever mass produce such a thing. As the close up pic after the break shows, the clip is designed to slot snuggly into the Wiimote's and Classic Controller's respective nooks and crannies, ensuring that the Wiimote won't ever feel left out again while you enjoy some of the Virtual Console's old school offerings. Of course, as Williams points out, it would also open up the possibility of future games that take advantage of tandem controllers, although if that ever happens, you likely won't have to build your own clip.
oh cool a ps3 controller
how the hell is that a crappy PS3 controller, it's a peice of engineering genius
And this is useful....How?
If only you used glovePIE, you'd understand.
You could also have a normal control pad with the wii's motion sensing abilities, and switch from pad to pointer in an instant. good idea imo.
Hmm, this would give the classic pad rumble, tilt and pointer functionality. Sounds SUPERIOR to SIXAXIS to me.
@deemar
Don't forget it adds a speaker too !
Although this is very clever to a certain degree, wouldn't it be good if Nintendo combined these together technically and created 1 controller with all the benefits eg. Tilt Sensor's, Pointer, Rumble and Speakers
wait what? clip? this article just lost me.........elaborate someone.
nice! Now when I play super mario brothers 3 I have the added discomfort of added and poorly centered weight on my controller! This is sure to give me the wrist arthritis that I always wanted!
isnt it funny how i already know im gonna be lowest ranked?
seriously... how is this superior to the SIXAXIS? other than the rumble (woo, everybody loves that =P) and the oh so awesome low quality speaker, it has the same motion sensor abilities and it is very uncomfortable. Plus, it just makes it look big and crappy.
"it has the same motion sensor abilities"
incorrect.
Why didn't anyone think of this earlier? I know I would have if I owned a Wii.
If it ain't broke, DON'T fix it!!!
ill take two please
The first time I saw the classic controller, I thought, it would be great if I can attach it to the Wiimote so that it doesn't lie loose. But when I did that, I realized why nintendo didn't do that, it's because when you do that, the combo looks like a phallus, and you can imagine how the sensitive, law-suit happy people in the US would react to that
they should use this clip to make a better wii gun than this: http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/02/wiimote-gun-mod-pop-a-cap-in-your-wii/
a wii rifle would be best, but handgun will work. that would make some games a lot more fun and feel more realistic
