This is stupid to be on Engadget. In my entry level ECE class at WPI, we made an Electrocardiogram for our second project, using two non-inverting and one inverting op-amps (all using the same chip). The results were viewed on ocilloscope with the same result - no need for a microprocessor. But I suppose if you don't have a cheap scope... or... want to waste time...
