Palm makes Treo 700wx official for Verizon
Palm and Verizon have made official today what we've known now for a while (as have Sprint and Alltel): 32MB of RAM in a Windows Mobile 5 device just doesn't really cut it. The Treo 700wx rights the 700w's wrongs with an extra 32MB of memory for a grand total of 64MB; otherwise, though, the device is all but identical to its older sibling, with Windows Mobile 6 sadly nowhere in sight. Get it now while it's hot at Verizon stores or online for a stiff $399 on 2-year contract after $100 rebate.

Is there any way to upgrade a 700w? Can you solder another 32M onto the phone's board? I just paid full retail for this dang thing 3 months ago, and I agree, 32M doesn't cut it. However, shelling out another 600 bones 3 months later doesn't cut it either.
I have the insurance. What if I dropped my 700w in the water? You think after 50 bucks (deductible) I'd get another w or would the throw a wx at me?

Waiting for the XV6800, or maybe the Samsung i760.
Verizon, dear Verizon, your network is awesome but your phones suck ass.

I wont be buying anymore palm products after the stunt that was pulled with the Treo 700w. They knew 32 megs was not enough and did it anyway.

Erm.... iPhone methinks !! I'm from the UK and we're due to get the iphone in october (approx.) and it will probably come on a choice of 12/18 month contract (there's only one network over here that does 24 month and thats Orange out of the 5/6 major nets) for aroun about $400. I think it's insane that you poor guys not only get fleeced in terms of the handsets available - as i gather a lot of high end handsets dont carry the required GSM/UMTS - but in terms of how much you have to pay! Please don't think i'm bragging about how good we have because i'm not, but seriously... as an example i had 4 months left on my 18 month contract, I called them and eventually after ceaseless efforts got a Sony Ericsson K800i for £80 (split between 2 bills) they extended my contract from that very day for 12 months, and i got half price line rental and 100% extra mins and texts for 3 months! Why is it so much more expensive ?? Back to this phone, why pay $499 when u get all that and more in the iphone ? I'ts all madness i tells ya... madness...

i find it funny how they are just getting that now... yet cingular and rogers will be getting the 750 soon

Cingular _has_ the 750.
And the 8525, which rules.

Is it just me, or is there anyone else out there that is concerned that the iPhone's virtual keyboard is going to be the undoing of an otherwise very attractive entrant? My 8525 has a virtual keypad for the phone and while it generally works there always seems to be a delay and/or missing entry when i attempt to "type" on it.
Virtual keyboards on touch screens have been around for a while and while they generally work I find them difficult. I, for one, think a phone that has zero hard keys is going to be hard to use.

$399 for this piece of chunky, ugly plastic? I will wait for the iPhone for $100 more.

How about we not discuss the iPhone unless the other phone you are trying to compare it to doesn't have a removable battery.

iphone - schmy-phone! ya know everyone thinks it will be the greatest. sure it might be cool, but remember; not all services will have it or be able to use it! and yes dear friends, they are having "issues" with it too! just like all the rest! it's not the answer to all your dreams! i personally have the Q and it IS AWESOME! i still have 2 weeks to think on it with verizon, to see if i want to go to this 700wx. i might for the touchscreen & full size SD card. But it is awesome!!!!
