Apple prepping updates for all Mac lines by June?
We're not holding our breath on this one. MacScoop is promising some sweeping changes to Apple's Mac lineup, including a black iMac, 8-core Mac Pro, ultraportable MacBook Pro and a 15-inch MacBook. MacScoop even conjectures the aging Cinema Displays could be due for a refresh, and seems to think a Mac OS X Leopard release in late March is in the cards. It all sounds plenty reasonable, there are a lot of products in Apple's flock that are getting a bit stale, but we're rather doubtful there are any sort of "tipsters well placed at Apple," spilling this info to the MacScoop folks. After all, the last time we spotted MacScoop making hardware predictions, their "sources believed to be very reliable" totally missed on that ultraportable 12-inch MBP prediction for Macworld Expo 2007.

That pic turns me on
please god please the only reason i didnt want to buy the MBP was the size

What's the app between iMovie and Garage Band?
I think Time Machine.
yeah.. thats time machine.. (*new in leapord.. you can check it out at apple.com) but it makes me wonder.. if thats leapord.. why do they have the old version of iTunes on there.. (notice the green eighth notes)
That machine would look really cool running Vista.
this broke my heart i just bought a new macbook last week and ive been saving for so long and now this i suppose this has to be expected when buying a mac!!!!
should have looked at when the last revision was. You would have waited 3 more months.
If you couldn't wait, then it wasn't really your choice.
This is what happens when you purchase an apple product. Something new and better comes out in the next 6 months and you are a little bummed.
So the question is. Buy now and enjoy over the next few months or buy then and miss out until then.
Chill, guy. I bought a PowerBook Titanium 6 weeks before they switched to the Aluminum. I'm still using it 3 1/2 years later, and I can find a good excuse to buy a new MacBook Pro.
Maybe I'll find an app that won't run under Virtual PC and I'll need Parallels. But then it'll probably run under the Windows Virtual Client. Damn...
Yeah, right. I can hear the designers now: "Let's take our trademark white iMac and make it in black, so it will look just like a cheapshit $400 LCD monitor!"
Maybe they'll add a manure-brown iPod to compete with the Zune, too!
Hmm... it might be but it looks different from the icon on Apple's site: http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/timemachine.html
Warning: it loads Quicktime
If it where time machine then why would the iTunes icon indicate iTunes 6 or lower.
Seems probable. Everything could use an update. New Mac Pros for sure, Mac Minis are currently the suck. MacBook/Pros can benefit from Santa Rosa and later 45nm. And everything could use a bit of a boost before Leopard.
Black iMac? Sweet. 15-inch MacBook? Not.
true joseph but i was like ill be fine they just added core 2 duo and the ibook hadnt changed for ages
It's true you do feel a little down when new Apple hardware makes yours not-the-best. But even with my Core Duo 1.83Ghz iMac, I'm still happier than I was my entire previous 10 years with windows.
Until you use a Mac for a couple months, you can't understand.
Anyone know if that is a real background, because I would love to have it?
All that sounds nice and quite doable, except for the March release of Leopard. That won't happen until at least June 12th. After al, we still haven't seen a 10.4.9 release as Apple is keeping the updates spaced out by purposely dragging its feet.
@ Joseph
Buy when "released," wait 1-2 months for delivery. 3 months later, heartbreak as new models are released.
And so the great Apple turns.....
Oh, I found it, nice...http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/42386840/?qo=44&q=vista+mac+wallpaper&qh=boost%3Apopular+age_sigma%3A24h+age_scale%3A5
The design looks really nice. The screen really reminds of the 5th gen black iPod. I guess it looks like a giant iPod. :s
Give me a MacBook Pro with Blue Ray disc support.
WOW.... BLACK IMAC IS PRETTY...
No that I'm a prophet pf anything, but I predicted a black iMac for 2007 since early 2006.
Ah, but will they charge you an extra ££ for the privilege of having the same product in black? ;)
And sort out the insulting upgrade costs? Ive just tried configuring an iMac online and it cost an extra £390 to go from 2gb to 3gb! (going from 1gb to 2gb was £120 so what makes that 3rd gig soooo special? Is it solid gold?).
Now if a Mac tablet rears its head Ill consider it, assuming they don't have some way of shafting me when I try and configure it to a decent spec ;)
The 3GB RAM config is a 2GB + 1GB stick. 2GB sticks are a hell of a lot more expensive than 1GB sticks. That's why the 3GB upgrade costs more.
I love it when rumors sites quote "internet rumors" without even naming the source! (read article). And people speculate on an icon located on an imaginary desktop on a photoshopped picture of an iMac.
The one thing it tells me: Apple products are so HOT they are on the verge of overheating.
I admit lapping up all this stuff as well as I am holding out for a santa rosa MBP...
I will definately buy an ultraportable MBP, but might have to think about it if they have that bottom loading disc drive. It would be better if they just included a USB drive. Or, keep it slot loading.
I don't really see the point of a 15" Macbook, it seems pretty pointless.
Screw the imacs and displays....where the new ipod!
Thats the only Apple product i would tuch.
I hope they dont add a new macbook, i just bought mine
As long as the computer you buy today works for you, then you can't worry about what is going to be released. If you are constantly looking to buy the very latest, then you will never upgrade.
Sure Apple upgrades their products a lot. But, have you ever looked at Dell? Their products change almost daily. And if Apple didn't upgrade, then you people would be upset that Apple isn't upgrading fast enough. Remember the complaints about not upgrading to the Core 2 fast enough?

for the love of pete, please tell your friends who are thinking of buying an apple product about the site above. It will save everyone a lot of buyer's remorse.

Black is the new white.
Who gives a damn? Seriously, if any other company made a black version of their laptop (read Sony) nobody would even care. Apple is so overrated it makes me sick.
They need an ultraportable 12".

Yeah, that doesn't make you much of a prophet since you've been continuously wrong for about a year now.
I think Apple should copy MS with vista and not release anything for like 5 years. That would be good. And when they do finally release something is should be really crappy.

The first iMac with iSight built in came out whilst my order was being processed. Now THATS a PITA.
Please God, no! No Apple products should be available in black; yuck!
What I want to know: why does apple INSIST on deliviring these things with 2 CPUs installed.
Give me one CPU and let me upgrade later when I actually need it (and they are cheaper)
Same applies for GFX cards. Id like one Radeon G600 and want to add another one later in life.
Apple believes that users believe that "black" is more safe, and better. I think that black is just another color and should be offered, alongside other color options, for the very same price.
These misconceptions of Apple's belief probably results in the "even higher" cost for the "black" Apple Macintosh laptop computer. Hell, I can get a black laptop anywhere else for half the price :-) (black: *before* any fire, that is).
Never mind any technical innovation :-) If you can get consumers happy by painting the product black and call THAT a technical innovation, I guess the world *is* your oyster. Just don't tell it to the car manufacturers that that's how things are done nowadays....
I think it's probable. Very probable. We better start saving the cash now because Apple Inc's gonna make a nice little phone call to our pockets pretty soon. (
I would imagine Apple's going to release a beige iMac in a few years, and everyone will fall over themselves with glee that Apple released an "unusual" color, now that black is standard fare on HP and Dell and eMachines desktops.
yes shifulman
and at the same time why don't you imagine you have a clue what you're talking about? And then imagine that you live in the real world and not your imaginary one.
sorry people, but colour counts. It's all about branding. Apple understands branding and that's why you pay an extra 50 dollars for a black macbook.
feel free to share your opinions on branding, but realise that most of you really don't know anything about it and Apple does. So you are probably wrong whereas Apple is probably right.
