iriver clix 2 unboxed, headed for the States
We got a good eyeful of the iriver clix 2 at CES, but those dagnab Koreans are already doing the unboxing honors, and the little dynamo is looking just as fresh as ever. No real in-box surprises, but first impressions are looking good: that 2.2-inch AMOLED display seems to be a real charmer, and you can't go far wrong with 30fps video and software updates aplenty. You can pick up the 4GB player in Korea now for 199,000 KRW (about $212), or wait until March to see this thing in the States for some undisclosed price. An 8GB version will follow in April.

Just to add my two cents:
Hottest PMP around.
Period.

I have the original 2gb iriver clix, as well as the all black 4gb upgrade one. Looks like I'll have more to add to the collection!

It won't sell. It's not an iPod.

Nice, I think that I'll be buying this to replace my old Creative Zen Micro even though it still works...

I hope it has UMS support unlike the first version....
Michael van Goethem @ Feb 27th 2007 7:10PM
Well, that's almost the first player that has its own design. Very nice indeed.

Indeed indeed :)

I have the original U10 and love it very much. iRiver really makes stylish and innovative mp3 players. Well done!

I have a clix (2gb). Improvements include, faster UI (better CPU) which means faster/better games, thinner, OLED screen, mini-usb connection (FINALLY!) and 30fps instead of 15fps video. that's all i can think of by comparison on the top of my head. let's not forget it has a built in microphone for recording, as well as FM radio, album art, seemless UI, games, file format compatibility and greatest screen ever.
Videos is where this thing shines. XviD-320x240-30fps. Videos can be convertered with the open source iriverter (which is multiplatform: linux, mac, windows, bsd- since it's based on the mplayer/mencoder project) which can seemlessly convert from any format (ogm, mkv, DVD included)
Who listens to music anymore? pfft! (just kidding of course!)

I like the Clix, and love mine, but I've given it up for a new favorite of mine. I really did like it, but the navigation system is just so darn inneficient, I don't want to have to move my hand around so much, and there were TONS of glitches in the firmware on the darn thing. I still have my Clix, but I got a Samsung YP-T9, and I like it FAR more. Not only is it far smaller, it has all of the features of the Clix, more storage, and it fits a LOT better in my pocket. It also has better controls, and it looks cooler, and doesn't get scratched or fingerprint covered like the Clix.
I love it.. hope Samsung continues the design line in the future.

Does it play FLAC?

There's a couple of vids of the CLix 2 in action.

Clix is AWESOME. iRiver is the greatest MP3/digital designing company I've seen (along with Apple) so far. I think iRiver is going to make a big hit in the US, since it's the greatest company in South Korea (iRiver is a company in S. Korea) Love love LOVE it. I total went psycho when I saw my friends' U10, but I'm glad I didn't buy one, cause I got my better chance of getting CLIX!!!
