Engadget's 3rd Birthday Giveaway - Day 1

- Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX + Copy of Lego Star Wars II + Xbox 360 for Windows Controller
- SanDisk Sansa e280R
- Netgear WGR101 Wireless Travel Router
- Samsung A920 (Sprint)
- v-moda bass-freq headphones
Here's what you have to do to win:
Make a post in the comments below with links to your favorite Engadget posts from each of the past three years (i.e. post your fave link from 2004, your fave from 2005, and your fave from 2006). Make sure you have one post from each year, as well as why it's your favorite post of that year, otherwise we have to disqualify your entry. It's a little tougher if you haven't been reading the site since 2004, but you gotta give something back to the old school, right? We'll pick five winners at random from among all qualifying entries.
A few rules (yeah, there are always rules):
- You may only enter this specific contest once. If you enter this contest more than once you'll be automatically disqualified and barred from all future giveaways. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.) You may enter our other Birthday contests, but you can't win more than once; if you happen to win more than once (which is pretty unlikely, but still) we'll ask you to choose just one of your prizes.
- You can only win once.
- This contest is open to anyone anywhere.
- Contest is open until 11:59pm EST on Sunday, March 4th.

2004: http://www.engadget.com/2004/07/14/chinese-cell-phone-novels/
I like books. I like my cell phone. I hate hassling with books & hardcopy on the bus or subway, and I always have my cell phone which I would love to translate into always having books.
2005:
http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/09/a-backpack-that-generates-power/
So I made the move to digital cameras and I love my cell phone (see 2004) and I want the ability to use both of them while backpacking. I also like the whole concept of generating power by walking and using this absolutely anywhere. :)
2006:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/20/nikon-teases-about-upcoming-10-2-megapixel-dslr/
Drool... Have you seen those websites where you get to zoom in on everything from a huge picture? I think there is one in Cologne and one in the Netherlands at least. I want to do that. I want to be able to take a picture and zoom up to 1/16th of the shot and make that into a print for my wall. I mean yeah this would make that CSI/spy television technique of zooming into a clear picture of someone in the background totally possible. What's not to like?

2005:

2006:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/05/target-sells-memory-card-with-nudie-pix-buyer-traumatized-for/
All of these posts have a special emotional significance. In some way I connected with all the folks who are apart of Engadget on all of them.
2006: Wii unboxing video... first time I ever watched one of these with wonder.. as I had wanted my wii so bad at that time, plus I couldn’t help thinking how cool was the packaging! http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/10/wii-unboxing-video/
2005: This was a big one for me too.. I was working this CES for my dad’s tradeshow company and I worked at one of the booths this was showing at. For some reason it really hit home seeing a post about something that had to talk to people about for four very very long days. It was also when I really started to appreciate what hell you go through for us every year. I could barely stand it one year, I have no idea how you all allow yourself to go back. http://www.engadget.com/2005/06/28/video-without-boundaries-mediaready-5000-now-shipping/
2004: It was a bear finding this one.. it's the first post I ever read, about the time i started reading the site.. it has a personal connection for me because it wasn't just a neat product I was desperate to get, it was a great new site that specialized in news about stuff I loved!
http://www.engadget.com/2004/10/15/humax-drt800-tivo-dvd-rw-recorder/
I was both right and wrong about DVR/DVD-R combo units replacing the VCR but I was 100% right when I said.. this site is cool, I better book mark it. As time went on, it became my home page. J
Also, as much as I’d love to win the video card (building a new pc as we speak) I have to admit this contest really took me down memory lane and also made me want to say thank you to all the folks at engadget for working your tushes off to give me something to look forward to every day.

2006:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/20/would-you-trade-your-ps3-for-a-lifetime-of-tacos/
I mean really! This was awesome! $12500 of taco bell if you hand over that hunk of junk? That's cool. Too bad I wouldn't use it. But honestly, if you had a PS3 at that point, putting it up on ebay would have made you around $5,000 which is much better than money I would never use :-p.
Awesome stuff guys, I love Engadget!

2006 - http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/16/sonys-playstation-3-review-roundup/ as i said in terms of the e3 post, love me some games, and since the original playstation was my first system, im sort of a sony loyalist. it was interesting to see the new console and as always, your post about it was awesome.

The article that made me succumb to the crowd and get a iPod video.
[2004]
http://www.engadget.com/2004/03/23/hitachis-fuel-cell-pda/
Because of the lack of feasability: how would I get a fuel cell through airport security?
[2005]
http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/05/fossil-ces-the-wrist-pda-lives/
Because the lack of style. Who wants to walk around with that on their wrist?
[2006]
http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/24/cingular-8525-spotted-again/
Because this is the coolest phone/PDA out there.

http://www.engadget.com/2004/05/05/longhorn-to-require-pcs-from-the-future/
I've saved up all my money just waiting for the release of Longhorn... um vista, still need a better graphic card though.

Not like you need another reason to play with Legos but if you do, this was awesome.

Hacking a roomba, who would have thunk it.

Stupid name, cool concept. Great info on it.

Why its my fave? I have a BA in Jornalism - so anytime its 'freedom of speech' FTW im happy.
2005:
http://www.engadget.com/2005/07/08/apple-to-become-a-wireless-carrier/
Great article that all but gave away what Apple was planning on doing with the iPhone. Amazing.
2004:
http://www.engadget.com/2004/03/05/a-video-ipod-not-so-fast/
The first article Engadget did on Apple or an Apple product.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS! HERES TO ANOTHER 3 YEARS AND BEYOND!
Sometime during 2004 I got hooked on engadget. Been a regular ever since...
Here for may favorite posts:
http://www.engadget.com/2004/09/01/the-i-duck-love/
I really liked the idea of the i-duck. In fact just reading about it, made me search ebay, for some iduck offers...
http://www.engadget.com/2005/08/22/engadget-1985/
That's an alltime favorite. Lots of people will name this one I guess...
http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/12/live-from-the-steve-jobs-keynote-its-showtime/
I've always loved your keynote coverage. They're really entertaining!
2004:
http://www.engadget.com/2004/08/05/the-aquariass/
mainly because I actually saw one in person, and then a DIY version in a shady bar in NYC. but seriously, a product selling for over $1,000 that has ass references must be at least worthy of a revisit 3 years later for comic relief.
2005:
http://www.engadget.com/2005/08/26/rio-audio-rip-1998-2005/
favorite? no, but definitely one of the sadder ones for me. The Karma was, hands down, the best MP3 player of its time, and would still be competitive if Rio had a better management. I have a dream that one day, little boys and girls will once again be grooving in streets everywhere to the crisp, clear and FLACed sounds coming out of the new version of the Karma.
The apple goes intel gets an honorable mention here.
2006:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/20/tesla-s-electric-roadster-is-lean-mean-and-very-green/
Because nothing, and I mean nothing, can be hotter than a gadget that can outrace pretty much every Ferrari and Lamborghini.
2007: I know not needed, but still, another early favorite honorable mention must go to Rubin's Switched On: Radar Love. I don't think Rubin is getting enough love around here. his columns are often among the cleverest things posted here.
2004:
http://www.engadget.com/2004/05/14/continuing-e3-coverage/
I started reading engadget while working at RadioShack halfway through E3. I have been reading it from work ever since.

Seriously, you've got be kidding me. When it's out, it's out, nothing special.

2005:
http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/11/ekguard-service-tells-you-if-youre-having-a-heart-attack/
I love this, brings me to the question, why on earth would you need a machine to tell you your having a heart attack? and finally is this another gadget I need on me! Ive run out of pockets!
2006:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/25/the-lockdown-locked-but-not-secure-part-2/
Made me switch the locks in my house to more secure locks, one of the most definitive articles.
2004: http://www.engadget.com/2004/12/03/engadget-nominated-for-best-tech-blog-of-2004/
Gotta love it when a site gets recognition, I would have picked one of these kinds of threads for every year, but I thought you guys might not count it.
2005:
http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/01/predictions-for-2005/
This happens every year, but I like the how you guys often let the users make the article. It could be better if you guys ALWAYS made some predictions yourself, so we could go back and see them and how close you guys were.
2006:
http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/01/engadgets-3rd-birthday-giveaway-day-1/
Someone already posted this, recently in fact, but I was stoked when the Revolution got a real name, that meant it was so much closer to coming out. Although I did not like the name originally I do like the system now that is out, plus all the plays available for Wii makes it okay, lol.
