Optimus-103 Configurator looking good, still without its hardware
We know it's only the software precursor to what looks like it might still be the ultimate interface device, but holy hotness does the Optimus-103 Configurator just completely re-whet our appetites to get our hands on one. Of course, besides your selection of languages, there are also plug-in macro sets which change the keys based on the app currently being used, and the context in which you're using it. We know we should never get our hopes up, but who can help gnoshing on pics like these?

Anyone notice the Adobe CS3 Products in the pictures?

I would love to get one, just to remove the Windows Key during games.

You can do that with the Logitech G15. There's a switch on it to disable the windows key.

the keyboard won't deactivate the windows key, only hide the image on the key...

You can easily run a program or disable the key in your registry to do the same thing.

the original optimus used a Sun keyboard layout.
that left bank of keys - L1-L8 were the dead giveaway.
I sure hope it stays as a sun type5 layout.

The software uses plug-ins, which I'm under the impression, can re map any of the keys to anything.
Just change the function depending on the application running.

allright, now we need a keyboard version of minesweeper!

What I really want and would be willing to lay down some bling for is a keyboard that would dynamically change based on the language I'm typing in. When you want to be able to insert all characters from 3 languages, it can be a little challenging to remember all your layouts.
And I want pictures of hot babes at my fingertips.

The Optimus sucks. Period.
No reason getting hyped over a keyboard that pulled a Sony...
(What I mean by that is, announcing the awesomeness that was the original Optimus-103 which had FULL COLOR keys and was FULLY customizable, releasing awesome pics of a product which would never look that good, and then showing that not only would the keys be in black and white, but they would also only take up the top half of the keys and STILL cost an ungodly amount of money.)

To clear up any conclusion, the "first" wasn't precious - the optimus is precious, ha.
I can't wait for its glorious, app-specific, beautiful glowy goodness graces my desk. Precious, me wants it!

Wait for the earth to stop spinning, that'll happen way before this perpetual sad little hoax of a product ever comes out.
