Rumored HTC Sirius, Erato, and Wings get detailed specs and dates
We don't know where the information came from and (as ever) we can't be absolutely certain that it's genuine, but over the last few days a range of specific details on some previously rumored HTC mobiles have turned up in data sheet and picture form over at PDAdb.net. First up is the HTC P6500 Sirius: a quad band, WiFi and EDGE device that runs Windows Mobile 6, has a 400MHz Samsung processor, a 3.5-inch QVGA display, and also comes with 256MB and 64MB of RAM and ROM respectively. Next up is the HTC S420 Erato flip smartphone, which could potentially be the successor to the Star Trek. This 99 gram, 2.4-inch screen flipper should come with the same 400MHz CPU and Windows Mobile 6 operating system as the Sirius, but adds features like UMTS and HSDPA connectivity, an FM radio receiver, SiRF Star III GPS, and a 2 megapixel shooter. Finally there's the touchscreen featured (but stylus lacking) HTC S730 Wings which shares the same CPU, operating system, connectivity, screen, camera, GPS, and storage as the Sirius. In fact, the only difference we can tell between the two is the addition of WiFi, the exclusion of FM, and a different form factor to accommodate a slide-out QWERTY keypad. PDAdb quotes possible release dates for these unannounced and currently rumored devices as August for the Sirius, April for the Erato, and July for the Wings. You can't get a more detailed "rumor" than that.[Via GSMArena]

HTC Wings is supposed to succeed the Vox, neither of which have a touch screen. Ugh, when will these leaks get with the program.
You're welcome on the tip...
I have a Cingular 3125 (the sta trek) and I think that pound for pound it is the best phone on the market right now.
I was a die hard HTC fanboy until the Blackjack came along which, battery life aside, is the best smartphone/PDA I have ever had. This is not exciting although the Erato does sound interesting.
When would the HTC Kaiser come out? That is supposed to be the successor to HTC Hermes.
Is there comming a successor to Trinity?
I've had the HTC 6600 and currently still have the 6700. I would jump ship to the new iMate Ultimates - SLIM, 640x480 resolution and I'll be the BT beats the crap out of the HTC BT. What does HTC have a against slim units with VGA resolution (hell what do they have against slim units period?)
Unfortunately, I'd have to give up my sweet deal with Sprint to get a decent phone. Hard decsion to make. It would take many many years to haggle cingular down to a plan similar to what I have with Sprint currently.
I really wish fair trade was allowed to with Sprint so you could get any phone a manufacturer made that works on the US CDMA standard. No manufacturer will make a US CDMA phone unless Sprint or Verizon says they'll sell it though since you can only run a Verizon authorized phone or a Sprint authorized phone - seems silly you can't even switch a Verizon phone to Sprint and vice versa. Can you imagine if Comcast said you had to buy their PCs just to use their cable network?
if you like the 6700, but think it's too thick, hold on....have seen the new 6800 from Sprint...you'll like...trust me. Oh, did I mention it will be Rev A? yeah....you'll like.
indakno,
Thanks but the 6800 is still too thick 21mm, it still is USB 1.1, it still is only 240x320 and still only uses lithium rechargables.
If you look at the iMate ultimates - their thickest of the 5 is only 18mm the thinnest is 11mm, they ALL are VGA - 640x480, ALL are USB 2.0 (which came out half a decade ago but that is too advanced for HTC and for crying out loud, I can even get toys with lipo (lithium polymer) batteries - can't we have more advanced technology in our $500 phones to match our $100 toys? Frankly the 6800 was obsolete a year ago - releasing 2 months from now isn't exactly keeping me on the edge of my seat.
if the other 2 phones have a 3.5 inch display it does not look like the star trek flipper has anything near 2.4 in.
One of the things I don't like about the "VGA IS BETTER!" arguments is that a VGA display on a WM device doesn't directly offer more information, just higher DPI for screen elements.
Thus, programs have to be specifically coded to use insanely little fonts, or everything just looks 'smoother'. Do you really need smoother? QVGA screens aren't really hard to read.
If you're going to complain, you should say whether or not you want more information or higher quality display, not just "WAAAH NO VGA!"
VGA IS BETTER - I use my phone for Excel Spreadsheets and browsing the web. I had the oppportunity to try the HTC Universal. And while this was even BIGGER than the absurdly sized HTC 6600 and 6700, it was much more functional for those two tasks. The iMates Ultimates offer VGA resolution but in very SLIM and reasonable form factors - OH and YES, they are ALL Full PPC phones - none of that smartphone crap that is basically PPC but completely gimped.
If you are going to "correct" someone make sure you know what you are talking about.
Just thought I'd point out anyone using WM6 to check their e-mail will also want VGA as WM6 now supports HTML format for e-mail
