Forget that Virtual Console hullabaloo over in Wii land, here's a
slim PS2 that comes prepped with a nice little collection of NES games right out of the box -- zero Wii Points required! That's right, the New Slim 2 does it up 14-in-1 style, with classics like Super Mario, Galaxian and Duck Hunt. Unfortunately, it looks like somebody plum forgot PS2 compatibility while they were in the throes of a complete and utter disregard for copyright law, so perhaps our $32 wouldn't be so well spent after all.
[Thanks, Miles G]

I reaaaally want one, just for the novelty. Anyone know where it's from?

It's from Dominion Online Auctions (http://www.dola.com.au - look under "Brand New Items"). The auction finishes 6-Mar-2007+10 (Which is tomorrow as I type this).
FWIW Dominion is an Australian "olde worlde" auction house who've seen the writing on the wall and are trying to go a bit eBay.

Well, if anyone is interested in playing SNES-games with dualshock2-controllers, not on a PS2 but on an (old) iBook (any model will work, heck any new world Mac will work). Here's a project I did earlier:
how to make a 2-player-SNES of your iBook

No Wii-points required either, but make sure you own the original cartridge for the games you're gonna play through this.

They're are SNES, NES, Genesis, Atari and a few other emulators specifically for the PS2. Most of them allow one to play roms straight from the HDD. On the old fat ps2, no modchips are required.

he he.
DOLA was sent a couple of emails on the topic of it being *ahem* knockoff and replied:
"In our description or in the description of the item itself, there is no mention of
This item being a Nintendo or Playstation Entertainment System and therefore I can not
See how it could be interrupted as such a unit.
I will investigate this item further and should it actually infringe any copyrights then I will
Withdraw it from auction and take the appropriate action as needed."

I picked up a PS2 for my wife's birthday last month and the vendor also sold me a made-in-Japan disc that's basically a NES/SNES emulator with about 500 games. Stuff I hadn't played in ages, like Actraiser, Super Mario All-Stars and Double Dragon... Yum.

I bet it will outsell PS3 in less than 2 months

I don't think most of you are understanding what this is.. This is a nintendo-on-a-chip implementation and joins the tons of other designs for famicom clones from asia.
