is it just me or would it be a good idea for these companies showing off their latest, greatest cameras to have a cd of sample photos for each camera they could give to the press? surely compared to the r&d of the camera, a few hundred cds wouldn't cost that much! i'm interested in looking at the spec and outside of a camera, but i'd really like to know how well it actually takes photographs...
ahh, must be too early here. You want sample photos from the actual cams. Yes, that would be nice assuming the cams are in final versions ready for release, with no additional tweaking to be done.

"in the flesh" photos do more for seeing the product more comprehensively, and they often reveal the real character of the product better, too.
I can only speak for myself here, but I dislike company-sanctioned perfectly-lit photos with simulated displays, no fingerprints, etc.
