Hands-on with Sony's DSC-G1 WiFi featurecam
Sony's digital cameras are definitely known for their svelte exteriors and sleek, thin lines -- unfortunately the big-boned DSC-G1 smashes that aesthetic in favor of features packed to the gills. Besides having WiFi for shooting images to your computer-based library and other enabled cameras, there are few on the market that come with 2GB of internal memory and a such an insanely high resolution touchscreen (at over 921k pixels, this thing has higher than XGA resolution). Check out the gallery, you won't be sorry.

Please can I have it! My T7 is dying!
So does the thing have a 3 inch or 3.5 inch screen? There have been conflicting reports.
This looks like a slick camera, but only 3x zoom? That's not just tired, that's exhausted.
A camera like this should have no less than 7x. When are manufacturers going to wake up and get past the 3x?
Casio's much more compact EX-V7 has a 7x optical zoom.
So this Sony? Cool in some respects. But pass.
Damn can we get a mor suitable hand model please? The pictures are making me sick - and it's not the camera...
Zoom with your feet, Z. 3x is fine for such a small camera. The WiFi feature sounds cool. I bet you could count such equipped cameras on one hand.
Zoom with your feet? Yeah, thanks for the laugh, but not only does that not make any sense, it ranks up there with the top ten most absurd comments I've ever heard, not to mention, you clearly don't use your camera very much. Why even have 3x then? Let's just go with fixed lenses and walk on water and climb mountains.
3x might be fine for you, but it isn't for me anymore. I use my camera too much, and 3x is tired. It's time manufacturers raise the bar. They don't bother because they've gotten lazy.
If only it was 10mp or more...
Agreed. I would be all over this thing if it had more megapixels. I'm looking for something to replace my dsc-n1 8.1mp, but I havent seen anything in this latest wave of releases to justify an upgrade, and I'm certainly not downgrading megapixels. sigh.
I'm pretty gutted after seeing the photos, it not just big the camera is absolutley massive. Unless this guy has really small hands to boot with being disgusting. Its making me not want to look at any more photos from the PMA.....
Even if this camera had 12x zoom, it would be useless without a tripod. Camera shake becomes an exponentially bigger problem when you zoom in, especially at magnifications beyond 3x.
That's what VR is for.
Is that a tripod mount that the security device is in? Some of these smaller cameras have no place for a tripad mount, but I wanted to make sure this one has it.
