Westinghouse adds to Digital Photo Frame series

Out of the flurry of digital picture frames you've seen here, you may remember Westinghouse's DPF-0701 from last summer -- we definitely noticed some improvements in the 4 new units they've added to their Digital Photo Frame line. The new frames are the 7-inch DPF-0702 at $119, the 8-inch DPF-0802 with an 800 x 600 resolution at $179, the 10.2-inch DPF-1021 with an 800 x 480 resolution at $249, and the 14.1-inch DPF-1411 at $399. All four models have two USB ports for file transfers, 128MB of built-in memory, and are compatible with CF I and II, MD, MS, Pro, MS Duo, MS Pro Duo, SD, MMC, and XD memory cards. They all support JPEG, AVI Motion JPEG, MPEG-1 and MPEG-4, and use MosaicView technology that now features slideshows with variable transitions and speeds in addition to its initial mosaic function. If you want one, feel free to hold your breath, since Westinghouse's new litter of DPFs should ship sometime this month.

What is your favouriate photo frame? I brought a couple of "CiBox C107 7" Digital Photo Frames" (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/120723), one for parents and one for grandparents, but they're real budget.
I'd want something bigger and better personally, any personal recommendations?

I gave my wife the 8" for Mother's Day last year and she loved it.
So far, it's worked perfectly. I stuck a 1GB Memory Stick into it that I picked up for $20 and it has about 280 photos.
I noticed that there's no mention of either sound or a remote control on the new ones. Everyone else has both at the same price or lower.

I think this is because a remote control is standard. I believe that this model definetly has one. Regarding the sound: If it can play music and videos, it also has sound.

I wouldn't spend a dime on ANY of the digital picture frames, and I can't imagine why anyone else would either. They're a total waste of money, and a total waste of resources.

Yeah, and those motor-car contraptions will never take off either. I'll stick with my horse and buggy.

I have a 50-inch Samsung Plasma HD digital picture frame.

Are you kidding me?
"14.1-inch DPF-1411 at $399"
I can get a laptop with a 14.1" screen for $399. It it would be able to do more than show pictures.
Chris @ Mar 8th 2007 12:25PM
The border on that frame is way to big.

Apple, Cisco Extend Talks on iPhone Deal
Cisco's Linksys consumer products division sells VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) phones under the iPhone name, which the company said it acquired in its purchase of Infogear in 2000. Apple introduced its iPhone to great fanfare at the Macworld conference last month, and Cisco later said the companies had been negotiating use of the name before the show but never reached a deal...

Digital photo frames are hot, popular as great presents to friends in holiday now. Nowadays, there are many desins and sizes available, such as 5.6", 7.0", 8.0 inch, 10.4".
Maybe you can visit the website: http://www.etoway.com/categorybig_26.htm for some information or just email to me for these loveable gifts.
Some mini digital picture viewers are also popular now. Some stores use these digital gadgets as promotional gifts too.

Just FYI, I snagged one of these from ABT Electronics and learned a good lesson in assumptions. This frame is very nice from what we've seen playing with it the past 30 minutes or so, but even though it supports video, it doesn't have any sound. It also didn't include a remote or a USB-to-MiniUSB cord. There are four buttons along the top - menu, forward, play, and back. There's an on-off switch, and a brightness switch, and that's about it.
The MosaicView is pretty nice - I think what I like best about it is that if you have pictures in both portait and landscape mode, it will keep portait-oriented pictures in half the screen and put two landscape-oriented pictures in the other half as it rotates through your files randomly (or it will put two portait-oriented pics side by side or four landscape-oriented ones together at once).
Very nice ... the lack of sound is really my biggest gripe as of yet. My only other gripe is that you have to either have pictures up, or movies. You can't have it cycle randomly through both, as viewing either of them requires you be in that specific viewing mode.

And of course, it's a good lesson in putting blind stock in Engadget comments, even if they are left by someone who says it "definitely" has certain items with it and links to a site where they claim they're "The expert site for digital photo frames."
Ahhh, well. Live and learn. The wife still absolutely loves it. One thing is for sure - I'll never buy a DPF without a MosiacView-esque type of function. MV rocks.
