Pantech intros slimmer slider for SKY
Pantech will be launching a new 9.9 mm-thick new handset into the South Korean market via SKY which stands to be the country's slimmest cellphone ever. The Pantech handset (no model name announced) will best the current titleholder, a Samsung Ultra Edition, which clocks in at 12.9mm. But, with a slew of even thinner Samsung Ultra Edition handsets on the way, the "thinnest phone" crown is sure to be thrown up in the air for grabs a few more times this year. Pantech's new skinny slider comes with a digicam (no specified rez) and an MP3 player (of course), with a launch price of about $527. But the best feature according to Pantech -- or the coolest, at least -- is the magnetically-actuated slider, where most phones use a spring mechanism.
