Alright
Treo 650 owners, you can now (carefully) climb off your soap box, as the svelte Exchange ActiveSync Update is now available to treat your very own handset. While Palm had already
shoved the update onto the 680 and 700p handhelds, it's now giving the faithful 650 users the ability to revel in
Push Email technology too, which is sure to make hard-nosed managers grin from ear to ear. Aside from the newfound support, the update notes here haven't really changed, so if you're interested in having your Outlooked life beamed straight to your Treo 650, be sure to hit the read link and get your download on. Of course, you should probably have your credit card ready as well, as folks with VersaMail 3.5 will be asked to cough up $2.99, while users without the aforementioned software will pay out $12.98.
Does this also sync Contacts with Exchange?
the LAST thing i want on my treo is push e-mail. i can check all my accounts at my convenience. maybe i'm lucky, but i'm not giving anybody that much control. if it's important enough, it's a treo after all, and those people know my cel number.
Uhh, why was my comment deleted?
Seriously? Direct push is just coming to the Treo 650 now? I'm no Treo user, but I thought they had this functionality forever ago. Glad I'm using a Blackberry.
It's had push email for two years with Chatter and the last year using the Chatter Exchange module. It's now got Outlook/Exchange push email officially from palm. And in reality, it's had Exchange for about the last year, unofficially.
Push e-mail has been available on the Treo for years. Snapper Mail, and ChatterMail (better) have been around for some time. I can't speak to Snapper, but ChatterMail is awesome (http://www.chatteremail.com). Since you have to pay for it if you already own one, why is this any different (other than cheaper)?
I already installed the new Versa Mail (3.5) and the Palm update to enble the push mail. Yes, it works and it syncs calendar and contacts as well.
BUTTTTTTTTTT, when my Treo 650 loses contact with the network it restart itself. I do not know if anyone had this problem... but is important to know.
