As expected, HTC was showing off a Shift UMPC today at CTIA. Unfortunately for us it was behind a glass case, but you can get a good look at the early prototype in our gallery. Check it out!
So far I have owned 5 HTC products (phones) and this UMPC looks really damn tasty. I hope these guys are doing well enough they don't get bought out by a competitor and have their product line destroyed as a result.
Indeed gotrice90. The HTC Advantage runs windows Mobile on an ARM-class CPU with 5" screen and 8GB HDD, while the Shift that is presented here runs Vista on a 1.2 Ghz VIA CPU with 7" touch screen and a 30 GB HDD.
Too bad UMPCs are so expensive when the hardware isn't all that great (compared to laptops). I guess you're paying that hefty price tag not for portability, but ultra portability. However, if I had the money to throw away, I'd definitely throw it at this.
