Chinese computer manufacturer
Hasee looks to be bringing some relatively low-cost all-in-one PC action to its home country, recently announcing its F200D model, which just manages to squeeze under 3,000
yuan mark (about $388). Of course, that much yuan only goes so far, netting you only a 15.4-inch widescreen display, an Intel Celeron M 360 processor, 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, Intel GMA 900 integrated graphics, a DVD drive, and six USB 2.0 ports to satisfy your expansion appetite. There doesn't appear to be any word on an exact release date, or any indication if it'll be available outside of China, though we wouldn't bet on it.

Judging by the keyboard and mouse size, that screen looks like it is around a 17-19" lcd not 15".

yeah you're right that doesn't look like a 15.4... i went to their site to check it out, but its 404's all around.

Whats with the OSX-like wallpaper?

The problem with the Chinese F200D is that an hour after you buy one, you'll need a new one.
*ducks*

Not bad on the whole. It should do all the basics with no trouble. But $388 ? That's kind of a lot. You can get a fairly competant Dell for that (on sale of course, and by no means a *high* performer), so as a low cost product for a developing market, I think it's a little on the high side.
What OS is it running ? Could we possibly slice off ~$100 (or at least the Yuan equiv) with a little Linux magic ? Or maybe improve bang-for-yuan with an AMD proc instead of an Intel ?
Not the best thing for businesses, but for home users firefox is pretty much the same on Linux and Windows...and Open office is close enough to MS Office that when the kiddies hit the job market the learning curve won't be horrendous...
'Sides...isn't Linux supposed to be the official platform the Chinese gov supports ?

seriously, what is up with the OS X wallpaper
keith waddington @ Mar 27th 2007 11:03PM
os x doesn't have walls. os x uses a desktop metaphor. so it has a desktop photo.
os x doesn't have transparent window frames and opaque windows either. I'm a bit confused with the MS metaphor. Does it have something to do with photocopy machines?
keep smiling

I'm not sure that a monitor glued to a crappy-looking case really qualifies as an all-in-one. I'll bet they even run a standard 15-pin connector through the monitor stand that you can unplug. If I glue an iPod to a cell phone it doesn't make it an iPhone. I fail to see any (true) integration.
Not included in all that alphabet soup of acronyms is the most obvious: POS.

First off, the photo's wrong: that's a pic of one of their "G" series of computers, which come with a 19" screen.
The model in question comes with a 14.1" screen and really is a much more compact, all-in-one design...have a look here if curious:

I have seen the 15" model and its quite cool. The performance is astonishing considering it was a celeron M processor. Its a good buy. I m satisfied with performance and its elegant & sleek look. Price wise may be they can cut some more.
