Microsoft to announce Xbox 360 Elite tomorrow?
The folks at GameDaily BIZ have an anonymous "industry source" who claims Microsoft is going to go all official on us in regards to its super secret Xbox 360 Elite tomorrow. Seems plausible, since most of the facts have spilled by now, and we've already spotted these things in production, but the best news is we won't have to wait long to find out either way

Seems likely enough with the "maintenance" thats been going on with Live for the past 16 hours or so. I'd imagine that at the very least they're updating 360's so they are capable of recognizing more than 20 gigs of hdd space.

Go on Microsoft, one up everyone by saying "Oh, it'll have a built in HD-DVD drive too", you know you want to
Brent @ Mar 27th 2007 6:11PM
I would be happy if they just made a 360 that didn't break every 6 months.
Dave Bergschneider @ Mar 27th 2007 6:21PM
Ready & waiting to upgrade. Hopefully this will run much cooler and make less noise. Possibly give us some built in HD DVD.
It makes you wonder if this whole xbox live maintenance thing will amount to IPTV as well.
AKM74 @ Mar 27th 2007 6:25PM
They will announce refurbished units painted in black?
Jason Gold @ Mar 27th 2007 6:30PM
The Xbox online site is down too.
AndrewNeo @ Mar 27th 2007 6:45PM
How long until premium system price drop? Pleeeease?
ChangeOfFate @ Mar 27th 2007 7:06PM
...and to think that we all bought the "Premium Xbox 360" at launch. I suppose that this would be the premium premium?
Now, I will have to buy this "uber black" Xbox 360 just so I can have the peace of mind knowing I have a premium Xbox 360 that is also a cool black color.
As much as I love Microsoft, just another way to make a buck off gamers. They have us wrapped around their finger.

Xbox.com is down, and I can't seem to sign into Xbox live, might be related to this launch.
CharlieX @ Mar 27th 2007 6:55PM
Just shipped mine out for the 3 rings of bad soldering.... maybe they'll just toss in an Elite to ship back to me. Yep.
Tim @ Mar 27th 2007 7:05PM
Sweet.
Pc_Madness @ Mar 27th 2007 7:58PM
People wanted HDMI and a bigger harddrive as well as for it to run cooler. And they're giving us that are they not?
Pc_Madness @ Mar 27th 2007 7:06PM
Xbox Live is down for maintenance and/or upgrades for the Spring Update.
Buck Jones III @ Mar 27th 2007 7:09PM
It's on now!!!
According to a very very recent post on Microsoft Blog 10...
"Two of the coolest Microsoft annoucements since CES are going to be breaking tonight and tomorrow night, and we have exclusive video for both of them. So if you are online at 9:00PM PST tonight (midnight on the east coast) check in to get a full scoop on what your friends will be talking about tomorrow."

about time, I dont know how much more of this viral marketing my media immune system can take. google: 360+elite Simply ridiculous. Kudos to MSXbox360 marketing.
(ps I am planning a 360+HDMI purchase, elite or 360-post-upgrade. just quit spanking it and announce already)
Martez @ Mar 27th 2007 7:19PM
I'll get the Elite if it is quieter and runs cooler. HDMI won't affect me for at least another year, and I don't plan on downloading HD content so 120GB is overkill at the moment, although they are nice add-ons (don't know if they are worth the price increase, though). If it's the same noisy disc drive and chip size, though-- I might just get a Core and find a cheaper HD online.
kingofwale @ Mar 27th 2007 8:21PM
where's the 65nm processor???
I think that's something people want even MORE than the harddrive or the HDMI, a xbox that wouldn't catch fire or get ring of fire.
Marten Kai-Larsen @ Mar 27th 2007 9:03PM
Confirmed it looks like

yes they are. however, now what do u mean by "us", who is us, they r not pleasing me, actually, they r pissing me off, because i have the original premium xbox 360 from day one, now what about us, i also want a larger hdd and a hdmi port, and if i purchase a new larger hdd, then what would happen to my old hdd, what a waste of money, what a waste of $100, yup this is another one of microsoft's money making schemes, they are trying to milk evey penny out of us.
now i also have a PS3 and it is perfect, it has everything what i want, it is perfectly thought of... go Sony
TJ @ Mar 27th 2007 9:32PM
Now now, calm down if you are 'annoyed' by this.
If you buy the new one you will most defiantly be able to transfer data.
You can buy HDD seperate and that will have a cable
MS are a business, but you spend how much you want, just upgrade your kit if you don't want the new one.
BTW It looks awesome, might buy it to replace my old Launch Day system. Though this one has been running fine, the elite could die :p and get a white one back as replacement :(
TheDonAndMikeShow @ Mar 27th 2007 9:52PM
Scot Rubin of The All Games Interactive pod cast called Laura Foy host of the website claiming the two exclusives and after talking to her he told his listeners that one exclusive was about the 360 and the other news was not and he explained that neither stories will be of much interest to anyone and that even Laura Foy said they were no big deal. Scot used to work with Laura Foy on the G4 network and they have a good relationship. Scot also said the "big news" could already be seen on other websites if you know where to look and when he showed it to his co-hosts it was so lame they did not even know what the hell it was..... No Halo 3 beta tomorrow...
James @ Mar 28th 2007 12:57AM
WTF is with all the Microsoft stories?
Andrew @ Mar 28th 2007 11:00PM
Yeah, what's with the Microsoft stories?! It's not like they've shaped/reshaped the industry described in half of the sections on this site...
Cipher @ Apr 1st 2007 1:32PM
While this is cool, it really isn't a good deal. They are raising the price just when everyone was hoping for a price drop. Sure you are getting 100GB bigger hard drive, but do I really need 120GB proprietary HD. Wouldn't it have been better to use regular exteranl pc drives via usb? The HDMI is a good thing, but think about this. $480 + $200 (for HDDVD drive) = $680. $80 more than the PS3 without wireless and the better cell processor. Sure, you are getting 60GB more of HD space, but do you really need it. This only makes the PS3 look more attractive, in my opinion.
