iTunes rolls out 'Complete My Album' feature
Well it looks like the rumors are true for once -- and with so much Apple speculation floating around on the regular, pure chance would seem dictate that a few pan out every now and then -- with the company announcing the introduction of a long-awaited iTunes feature that lets customers apply credit from purchased singles to download the entire disc. Straightforwardly called 'Complete My Album' (not iComplete, thank heavens), the new feature gives users 99 cents of credit for each track off of a given record, with the reduced price showing up a special page dedicated to the service. Sounds like a good deal to us; and now if you'll excuse us, we've been waiting 10 years to find out what other great tunes are on Hanson's MMMBop album.Update: We forgot to mention that you only have 180 days to apply credit from a given song towards the whole album -- bad news for those individuals who'll
probably space out on buying the rest of Live Phish Volume 14 until it's too late.
[Thanks, Bo]

When things like this happen I realize how much apple actually cares about what we want. But of course they have to do everything with-in the record comany approval....

NICE use of the Hanson reference, Evan!...

There really should be a law against referencing a song like that...it gets stuck in your head, could cause brain rot!

Hey, that's pretty cool. I would always grab 1-2 songs before realizing I may want the entire album. 'Course, where's the 192kbps at least encoding!?!? Screw 128!!

about freakin' time
Greenline @ Mar 29th 2007 10:20AM
Does this mean it is set up to be smart enough that if you download a pre-release single you won't get that same song when you download the complete album? I can't tell you how annoying it gets to have to delete a song you paid for just to have a nice clean album with no repeats. Maybe I am anal btu I can't stand repeats of the exact same song!

Yeah! Those girls are hot!

I'm looking at the feature right now on iTunes, and apparently it's not smart enough to distinguish between albums you bout on iTunes and albums you bought on a CD.

This would be cool if I actually still paid for songs. Naughty, naughty, naughty...

Has anyone else noticed that this is for a limited time only? I check my account and have the option to complete my albums but the offer expires on June 26, 2007.

Not a perfect system. I noticed that the same album appears three times in the list at three different prices, including one that reflects only a 10 cent discount off the regular price.

Not that I truly know... but I speculate that if you didn't like mmbop, you will absolutely abhor the rest of the album.

Does this work for TV shows as well? I usually like to try out a few shows before I commit to the season

Can I just return all my songs for 99 cents a piece? I don't want DRM'd 128kbs tunes anymore.
Justin Eaton @ Mar 29th 2007 9:11PM
That would be Hanson's "Middle of Nowhere" album, show some respect!
(I totally bought that album in 5th grade)
