Talisman M UUV is a mine killer
From robots working in deep space to unmanned underwater vehicles patrolling the deep blue sea: military and aerospace contractor BAE Systems has just announced its latest aquatic bot, the Talisman M, which is capable of locating and killing mines without any operator intervention. The size of a small car, Talisman can operate at depths as low as 150 meters and turn a full 360 degrees thanks to its vectorable thrust pods; although it can be controlled from on board a ship, the M is just as happy wandering around on its own and bringing the pain with its so-called 'Archerfish Single Shot Mine Neutraliser.' Best of all, the British-based BAE engineers have added a little something extra in light of current events: the task-minded UUV will emit a heartfelt apology if it's ever caught encroaching on sovereign Iranian waters.[Via The Register]

But why is the batmobile there?
Unfortunately, no mention of the specs on the next Batmobile, though it appears in the background.
They also ought to teach it to happily swim into Iranian waters and happily sink Iranian destroyers with happy torpedos.
Happiness all around
The BEA systems this was bulit, is only just down the road from me. Would take me about 5 mins to walk there.
Thats not the Bat Mobile that is a Older Lola LMP 900 Lemans Prototype behind it. i to would love to know how that figures into this.
Come on guys, show some sensitivity. The hostage situation in Iran is awful and the 15 servicemen/woman are clearly under extreme pressure. No room for frivolity especially as the Iranian Guard clearly don't know how to use GPS (unlike the Brits). We should be very worried about these goons.
Damn right it better apologize if it's in Iranian waters - the US or England would have no mercy on any non-ally (or any non-authorized ally) or military/non military ships in US / British waters
Not in regards to Blass's article though - too many Americans have double standard sydrome nowadays - it's ok for the US to abduct and imprison thousands of innocent people without due process, but we have to make a circus show about 15 British sailors.
That's not the Batmobile, it's the Lola B2K/10B racing car: http://www.lolacars.com/ -- click on cars for sale to see the pic.
Unlike prisoners in American custody, the British sailors are not being mistreated (starved or tortured for example).
From the statements made by Iran officials, it seems that they are hold-heartedly ready to resolve the problem: "But they have to show that it was a mistake - that will help us to end this issue" & "Admitting the mistake will facilitate a solution to the problem''
News website: "Mottaki also said that Tehran had agreed to allow British officials to meet the captured sailors."
So not only are they not being mistreated, are given due process (at least in the form of being known), very possibly to be released, but also British officials are allowed to see them - the US has done none of these things for most of it's kidnappings or prisoners.
But the British did say it was a mistake. The Iranians were clearly mistaken in their use of the GPS.
Good Lord! Are you sooo stupid / blind that you can't recognize brinkmanship?
Drat.. I thought that said mime killer.
Hurrah, technology is best when *saving* lives.
Feel free to buy the car in the picutre.
