Unfortunatly, it'a a sad state of affairs that ANY entertainment device would even be considered to be allowed in prisons.
Our local Prison, The Verne, Portland, Dorset, regularly orders PS2 consoles and LCD TV's for prisons on good behaviour, from our local Argos store, I know this first hand, and I have seen the orders.
You wonder why there is such a high rate of repeat offenses in the UK, prison life gives you the luxuries you can't afford on the outside.. People in our goverment, have TOTALLY lost the plot..
