Actually sorta Turbocharged PC
It's not often you get to see two obsessive mod cultures properly mashed up together like this, but Mark Purney grafted the turbocharger from a late 90's Mitsubishi Eclipse onto a PC for use as a case fan. Doesn't actually turbocharge anything -- especially since you wouldn't actually want to pressurize the inside of a PC -- Mark says he put this mod together because was tired of seeing ads for "turbocharged" PCs, a term that doesn't really mean much in the context of computing. And believe us, if there's one thing we're about, it's respecting the integrity of the word "turbocharged."

Nice...
Wow, this is months old lol
Pretty Cool
How many MPG does it get? maybe someone should make a hybrid!
"How many MPG does it get?"
I guess that depends on the size of the harddrive and the length of the mpgs... *rolleyes*
Miles Per Gallon, ya know like how much fuel the turbo charger uses *rolleyes*
Hehe, yeah, I know :) It was just an attempt at a really stupid joke, hence the rolleyes :p
You sir don't know how to recognize a good joke....
How much boost does it run? When will nos be installed?
"And believe us, if there's one thing we're about, it's respecting the integrity of the word "turbocharged" AMEN!
Except the turbocharger is attached to a motor and not powered by exhaust gases, which makes it a supercharger with a useless turbine attached.
i wonder if it actually blows air in really fast...ofcourse not too fast to destroy the insides...but still lol
would be a lot more efficient to run it backwards i think, suck air from the computer and pump it out, could get a higher flow rate w/o destroying stuff that way i think.
and besides, a turbo heats up air as it compresses it, so running it forwards would just heat up the computer, lol.
Wouldn't adding one of those cone air filters protect the internals and make it perform better than the stock filter?
I bet it is only a Pentium 2... and he will still think he is faster than every other computer out there and will insist on racing you!
"turbocharged PCs, a term that doesn't really mean much in the context of computing."
Back in the 286/386 era, many PCs had a "turbo" button to switch between the full MHz of the CPU, and a slower MHz so that old games would play at their intended speed.
Technically this would be a supercharger. Turbos are exhaust driven. Supers are driven by either the engine or a motor.
