I think he's referring to 2200mAh _rechargeables_.
I've seen AA NiMh rechargeables at 2800 or 2900mAh before.
Personally, I use a USB powered AA/AAA charger. Takes less than 5 hours to charge two, _and_ it only uses a single USB port for two.
